Description

Juggling motherhood and her job as a real-estate agent, Elizabeth Jordan wishes her husband could help more around the house. But Tony’s rising career as a pharmaceutical salesman demands more and more of his time. With a nice home in the suburbs and a lovely young daughter, they appear to have it all—yet they can’t seem to spend time together without fighting.

Hoping for a new listing, Elizabeth visits the home of Clara Williams, an elderly widow, and is both amused and uncomfortable when Clara starts asking pointed questions about her marriage and faith. But it’s Clara’s secret prayer room, with its walls covered in requests and answers, that has Elizabeth most intrigued . . . even if she’s not ready to take Clara’s suggestion that she create a prayer room of her own. As tensions at home escalate, though, Elizabeth begins to realize that her family is worth fighting for, and she can’t win this battle on her own. Stepping out in blind faith, putting her prayers for her family and their future in God’s hands, might be her only chance at regaining the life she was meant for.

This book was absolutely phenomenal! It encouraged me to take a look at my own prayer life and my relationship with God! I plan to start a prayer journal and find a space in my home to create my war room! I'm so encouraged after reading it. It was so hard to put down! I praise God for the opportunity to read this wonderful book!

I loved every moment of this book and it has opened my eyes to many things in my life. It has shown me to pray for my enemies and to show love to those whom I didn't think deserved it... But they DO because of God's love for ALL of us. I will fight like they did. Amen.

I appreciated the vulnerability, strengths and weakness of themain characters in this book. You can relate to Elizabeth’s anger and pain, Tony’s need to be the best, Clara’s desire for God, Danielle’s innocent faith and desire for her family to be happy.Even the supporting characters provided some great insights into the human heart in relationship to God. This book convicted me on the importance of praying and recognizing who I am praying to. I know that prayer truly works from personal experiences. These 3 sentences below resonated with me in this book. At the core of every human heart was someone who wanted to please herself, she believed, and that truth fought against the power of prayer. Page 279. Prayer, at its most basic level, was surrender. Page 279 The goal of prayer is not to change God’s mind about what you want. The goal of prayer is to change your own heart, to want what He wants, to the glory of God. Page 1339 The world and its desires can choke out the desires that God want us to have. I am grateful that the power of prayer was captured in this book. As Christians we need to be reminded of how God can move mountains through prayers. I received this book for free from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review. I also posted this review on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Goodreads, Deepershopper, etc.)”

I saw the movie and read the book. I can't say anything that adds any value to the five stars other than; I believe I learned as much from Miss Clara as Elizabeth did. I have already put into practice the prayer method's and felt change within my own heart. Loved the movie and loved the book. Both are life changing!
