Description

This book is written by Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. In this book he wrote straightforward about the history of the Confederate States of America and the causes he believed led to and justified the Civil War.
The object of this book is to show, from historical data, that the Southern States had the right to withdraw from the Union in which that entered voluntarily, that the denial of that right was a violation of the spirit of the compact between the States, and that the war was in disregard of the Constitution’s limitations, destroying the principles of the Declaration of Independence.
The book contains plenty of information about that period of time, by providing detailed information about the battles, the insights of the president on the figures that lived at that time, the military campaigns, etc.
Apart from all that, this book is fascinating for reading because of the constitutional analysis that deals with the secession question and the grievances by the Confederate States.
