Such a fun read, dark and bright, soft and hard, read this series for the joy of story. Sure it is fantasy but he makes the magic seem so real, so possible. My preference goes to deep and rich, complex and fun and these have it all, but I'll let someone else spoil it for you. Good read. Try it!
  • What an incredible series

This review is for people who enjoy fantasy series. I bought the first of this series last year and it languished in my iBooks for that long. I recently got past the first 20-30 pages and was immediately hooked. I read all three books in the course of a month. The setting is alternately a "magic college" in rural New York and a magic world. The young characters are all very well developed by Mr. Grossman. I can only hope he continues writing more books in this series.

I love this trilogy of books so much. The magic and tangled relationships are endlessly entertaining. The fantastic worlds you visit cause you to end up reading the trilogy over and over. I just finished my third trip through the books right before this rating. Love them all.

  • Some where between Existentialism and a Fantasy

This book series takes the reader on a journey that starts with an existential questioner with a deep love for his childhood books and ends... Well no need to tell you how it ends. The author gives his protagonist a magical quest that is more "real" then many other stories. At times he literally pokes fun at other fantasy novels, but they are in on the joke and not "the joke". The characters fallible and have deep flaws, but you end up loving them because of them. This author has made a fantasy quest for the modern age. The dialog might be one of the best parts. I truly loved everyone of these books and cannot recommend them enough!

This book is amazing, Grossman's writing style is the most amazing annoying thing ever, the details you want and the details you don't, u get them all, it beautiful. And they make u feel. I highly recommend starting from the beginning, otherwise these characters just won't have their magic to them, have fun.

This was the final book in the series. It definitely wrapped up the story with a fairy tale ending. It tied together the three books but also left a lot up to the imagination. Read it.

What an incredibly satisfying ending to a wonderful series of three! I don't even want it to be the last. I want to know who built the fence and where did they go on The Cozy Horse? I feel like a very happy little girl in a grown up sort of way. Thanks for a wonderful adventure!
