Description

From the USA Today bestselling author of True, Sweet, and Believe comes a tantalizing New Adult novel about finding love in the most unexpected ways…

Kylie Warner prides herself on being optimistic, but after finding her best friend in bed with her boyfriend and flunking chemistry, her upbeat attitude has taken a dive. Even an impromptu hook-up with her sexy new chemistry tutor only brightens her mood slightly. After all, it’s not like she’ll ever see the tattooed scholar again…

While he’s a whiz at complex equations, Jonathon Kadisch has trouble when it comes to figuring out women. So when Kylie tells him that she’s pregnant after their night of passion, he’s at a complete loss. He’s prepared to be a good father—unlike his own deadbeat dad—but he’s less prepared to fall for the genuine and alluring blonde bearing his child.

With emotions running high, Kylie wonders if Jonathon’s devotion is out of growing love or looming obligation. And when heartbreak threatens to tear them apart, Jonathon will have to fight for the only girl who’s ever made him feel whole…

I loved this conclusion to the True Believers Series! Kylie Warner has been betrayed by her boyfriend, who slept with one of her best friends, who was also a roommate. In order to distance herself from the pain, Kylie has moved into an apartment by herself. She is not recovering well, and this normally upbeat, people loving girl is in a very bad place. On top of that, she is failing chemistry. A tutoring session with genius Jonathon "Darwin" Kadisch leads to a passionate encounter and a pregnancy. Even though he doesn't think he wants a relationship with Kylie, Jonathon steps up and is there for her. As the two spend time together, the chemistry between them flares, and they start to care about one another. I thought that Kylie and Jonathon were both wonderful characters. Kylie is a very sweet, likable girl, and Jonathon was swoon-worthy. He tried very hard to be responsible and there for Kylie. I loved the two of them together, and enjoyed the steamy scenes between the two of them. The storyline kept my interest and I was very satisfied with the conclusion to the book and series, although I will miss these characters!

I loved this book! Jessica and Jonathan are funny and frustrating at the same time. There were times when I wanted to smack both of them for being stupid and there were times I was laughing like crazy because of the stuff they say or do. If you've read anything by Erin McCarthy before then you know that you won't be disappointed with Shatter. The chemistry between Jess and Jonathan is undeniable and Erin writes her stories in a way that make you feel what they feel. This is definitely a must read!

I am an avid reader, and I have been a fan of Erin McCarthy's for many years. I just completed the fourth book, Shatter, in her series, True Believers, and it was amazing! Shatter explores the lives of Kylie and Jonathon and how their relationship transpires. It is an emotional roller coaster, and I could not put it down! If you have not read the other books in the series, I would suggest that you start from the beginning and not stop until you have finished Shatter - you will not be disappointed. Trust me, you will not want this series to end. Shatter is a fantastic read on its own, but if you know the background stories of all the ‘now' secondary characters and relate to and understand those characters and Kylie, the main character in this book, I think this story will impact you even more. I know it had that effect on me. I laughed out loud and even cried at times for Kylie and Jonathon - which to me is the mark of a phenomenal story. As for the author, I continue to be in awe of Erin McCarthy because each of her story-lines is so very different - she is not the kind of author that writes in an expected pattern whereby you can guess the ending. I am constantly surprised by the twists and turns in each book and there is always something in each book that has me saying to myself “I never saw that coming.” I find her writing to be descriptive and brilliant, the subject matter relevant, and truly enjoy the way she can transport me into the characters’ lives, making me feel invested in their outcomes. I received this book for free in exchange for a honest review, and honestly...it is a must read!

Shatter is book 4 in the True Believers series. Kylie, who is still hurt after boyfriend cheats on her with one of her friend, meets her new Chemistry tutor, Darwin (Jonathan) and the do have chemistry together. I really love this book. Kylie and Jonathan are perfect for each other even if it took them a while to realize it. The plot has such a realistic feel to it and I loved seeing characters from the previous books. This is a wonderful series and I highly recommend it

This fourth book in the true believers series foes not disappoint. Kylie does not think her life could get any worse after she finds out her best friend slept with her boyfriend, that's until she finds herself pregnant from her one night stand with her hunky chemistry tutor! This story explores the ups and downs of their unexpected relationship. I have to admit I cried at times!
  • The Autumn Review for Shatter

Shatter took me a bit by surprise. Kylie hasn't really been a favorite of mine, but I have to say...she won me over. And Jonathon...umph! Sexy, super smart, and adorably sweet...he just might be the perfect guy. If you've followed along with the series, you know that Kylie's had to deal with a cheating boyfriend. Not only did he cheat, but it was with one of her best friends. Ouch. Big ouch. And while her friendship will never be the same, Kylie feels like she does need to move on. So, she takes her hormones into her own hands and grabs a guy. Not just any guy...her tutor! Her super sexy tutor. One night of passion has it's consequences though and surprise! A baby is on it's way and Kylie is prepared to handle it on her own. But, Jonathon is a good guy and he wants to be there for her. However, he didn't have the best role model of a father, so he's concerned he'll let his little tyke down too. Somewhere along the way, they discover that there's more to their relationship than just preparing for baby to arrive. Obviously there is sexual tension between them, but they both see something more. They have fun together. It's easy to be around each other. I loved watching them fall in love, and while I think the baby certainly brought them together more solidly, they still found each other regardless, fell for each other regardless. Opposites attract and all that. Perfect chemistry. Plus, I think they balance each other out. Another strength in this book for me was the character growth. I felt that Kylie, in particular, made some significant changes. As I said before, I wasn't really a fan of hers, because I didn't see a whole lot of depth to her before. Watching her handle the challenges of being pregnant, going to school, mending her broken heart, AND falling in love, is no easy task. But, I felt that Kylie handled it all with strength and tenacity. As for Jonathon, what can I say...I'm a softy for the sexy nerds. Nerds that have tattoos and such. What I loved the most about Jonathon though was how he respected Kylie. I felt like he truly wanted to take care of her because he cared for her, not out of obligation. Of course there moments that I was less than impressed with his behavior, but as a whole, I felt like he was really good for and to Kylie. He's just genuinely a good man. I'm a sucker for a baby story, but what really won me over in this book is that these two are truly both good people. Sure, Jonathon's dad wasn't great, but he was raised by a strong mom and Kylie came from a good family too. So, the drama lied within how to handle the hurdle of being first time parents, coping with loss, falling in love...deeply, and discovering themselves. And I loved watching the journey. It was an emotional ride, but oh so worth it. If you've followed this series, don't miss this book. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm so glad that Kylie got her happily ever after too. And the ending...was perfection! Quotes: ~"Your beard is even more scratchy than it was two hours ago." "It's a fact that a man's beard grows faster when he is anticipating sex." She looked up at me suspiciously. "Are you making that up?" "No. I'm totally serious. It's true."-pg 137 ~"They say it happens when you least expect it. When I showed up to tutor you, I had no idea that anything was missing from my life. Then I met you and I knew what was missing was you."-pg 225 ~"Oh my God. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and I have sex with my boyfriend on a waterbed, so that's saying a lot."-pg 231 ~"He looks at you bewildered, like he can't crack the equation on why you're into him."-pg 234 ~"Kylie Ann, I am so in love you, too. And it only has a little bit to do with how you smell."-pg 242
