Description

As The Giving Tree turns fifty, this timeless classic is available for the first time ever in ebook format. This digital edition allows young readers and lifelong fans to continue the legacy and love of a classic that will now reach an even wider audience.

"Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy."

So begins a story of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This moving parable for all ages offers a touching interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return.

Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation.

Shel Silverstein's incomparable career as a bestselling children's book author and illustrator began with Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back. He is also the creator of picture books including A Giraffe and a Half, Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros?, The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and the perennial favorite The Giving Tree, and of classic poetry collections such as Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Every Thing On It, Don't Bump the Glump!, and Runny Babbit.

And don't miss the other Shel Silverstein ebooks, Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic!

My nine year old son, Greg kept getting out of bed so I read this to him and showed him a picture of Shel on the back of the book and said “ If you get out of bed tonight, you might run into Shel Silverstein in the hallway. “. He hasn’t gotten out of bed since, he 14 now.

My high school sweetheart bought me this book as a gift when we were dating. I was 16 years of age. She was 18. I guess she was trying to tell me that I was the tree and she(🪝) was the boy after all. I’m still that tree at 46 and I’ve learned through the years that when giving of yourself that much you are bound to get hurt that much. Now that I’m aware, I shall not comment or post as much online because I continue to be left behind by those who won’t consider helping me when I need the help most. So learn to keep your guard up or else those little boys will take advantage of you and yet they’ll use things against you that aren’t true especially if your name is Tom Cruise and Ryan Seacrest. They’re already hacking my main cell phone it’s disgusting how having that amount of money can turn you into a complete monster towards someone like me full of ideas and that’s all they want. Let them hack you until the FBI gets involved. Just sayin’

I read this book on paper before but it is good it’s called the tree and I love it it’s of a little boy in a tree in the tree does all these miracle magical things for it for the little boy I really do recommend it it gets a little sad at some point because the trees chop down and trees also bring us oxygen I love this book I do think that you should recommend it and even if you don’t want to recommend it that’s OK I put a five point star view and I do recommend it even if it gets a little sad sometimes I know my review is long but just hold on with me I love this book it is really good you can buy on Etsy I do think

A great lesson in giving which makes the tree very happy even when the tree had nothing left. It has wonderful sentiment. I like it even more as an adult.
