Mel was able to break it down and educate on what is really important. We all seem to want to control everything and get so caught up in trying to accomplish this that we lose the focus of living our best life. LET THEM has taught me to take a giant step back and lowered my stress level in doing so. LET ME has given me hope for the future!

Feels like a chore to get through. I love the message but it repeats on end when trying to explain each section.

Finished in one weekend with time to spare. I enjoyed the conversational style and use of examples with the author, authors family and friends. Her vulnerability is beautiful and engaging. I have one negative and that is because of my Christian world view of the moments when mentioned YOU are responsible for your joy and happiness. As a believer we trust in God to provide, He is the Alpha and Omega and to not lean on our own understanding but trust in God and he will lead to straight paths. I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and have recommended to friends. For fellow believers, keep Christ in mind when reading, He is the center of your life. Not YOU. This book has inspired me to write the book that’s been on my heart and to let them have negative thoughts.

Mel tells you things you feel like you already know but helps you bring it full circle and apply it to your life. She allows you to feel like you’re not alone in this crazy life and that where you’re at and what you’re doing is all apart of the journey. Let them and let me!

  • Helpful Tool

This is a helpful tool for anyone who seeks to make the most of her own life — and stop worrying about other people. The simple theory is backed up with great examples and it’s easy to read and understand. My two critiques are: 1. I disagree that parents who pay for adult children’s therapy have the right to do monthly check-ins with the therapists. I know many of my therapist friends would agree that providing parents such access to therapy is a HUGE boundary violation and can be extremely damaging. 2. I think the last chapters of the book were a bit too young adult focused and the book would have been improved by offering examples for a wider variety of people in a wider variety of circumstances. Overall, well done Mel. :-)
