Description

"Think of your darkest memory," he continues, "and then imagine it to be much worse. This is what some of your days will be like."

To sixteen-year-old Micka, all words have flavours. Her emotions come with such force that she can’t help but carve them into her skin. The night she decides to kill herself, she meets Runner — a mysterious stranger who makes her question everything she’s learned about the end of the world.

Her instincts urge her to stay far away from him. But he makes her an offer she finds hard to resist.

There is only one rule she must follow: Kill to survive. Because the final wars were never meant to end.

Award-winning author Annelie Wendeberg delivers a dark dystopian series that brims with fast-paced action and suspense. Based on climate science, Micka’s world gives a terrifying glimpse into our possible future.

Warning: Contains themes of recovery from trauma following emotional and physical abuse, violence, neglect, and other content which may be triggering to some readers.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Such an enticing, chilling, marvellous story, with a unique, fierce leading character. I fell in love with the story within a few sentences. 11/10. Absolutely amazing!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The story moves, the written structure is excellent, the verbal and inner dialogue are very real and the portrayal of emotion, conflict, attachment, love and hate that are normally pretty hard to pull off are done with mastery.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing series! I had 3 sleepless nights because I just could not put this, or the other books in the series, down until they were read from title page to references!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was so brilliant! If I mix a bit of The Hunger Games, Helix, and The Walking Dead (minus the zombies) together I can only approximate how amazing this book is.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ WOW!! Incredible!! Visceral!! One of the best books I've read in the genre.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The strong female character is extremely rare and fresh.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Probably the best tale I have read in months.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hands down, one of the best post-apocalyptic books I have ever read.
