Annie Besant (1847-1933) was a respected author, women's rights activist, British social reformer and Theosophist. She worked closely with C. W. Leadbeater and and Helena Blavatsky. In 1908, she followed Blavatsky as President of the Theosophical Society. Her writings are inspired and revered by countless students.
