Description

“Identity Unknown is hauntingly original, impossibly clever and devilishly daring.” – Chris Whitaker

Autopsies can reveal the secrets of the dead.

And this victim is sending Scarpetta a message...

Summoned to an abandoned theme park to retrieve a body, Dr. Kay Scarpetta is devastated to learn that the victim is a man she once had an intense love affair with.

The murder scene is bizarre, with a crop circle of petals around the body, and Giordano’s skin is strangely red. Scarpetta’s niece Lucy believes he was dropped from an unidentified flying craft. Scarpetta knows an autopsy can reveal the dead’s secrets, but she is shocked to find her friend seems to have deliberately left her a clue.

As the investigators are torn between suspicions of otherworldly forces, and of Giordano himself, Scarpetta detects an explanation closer to home that, in her mind, is far more evil...

This is the very last time I buy a Cornwell book. I have never been so disgusted in a book. I don’t even care about the outer space junk. Her writing has turned into the “just get something on the page” variety, and this is coming from a long time fan. The fact that the evil doer(trying not to spoil the plot for everyone) cannot be caught just underlines the ineptitude of the entire government. Sorry I wasted my money and my time.
  • A good Italian story,

This book was better than the last several books. I think it’s time to let Carrie Grethen go though.
  • Identity unknown. Great reading I couldn’t put it down.

I used to enjoy her books so much but now find her writing doesn’t keep my interest. So much extra unnecessary details that feels like she is just filling pages. The same repetitive characters. This book was so boring!

This one kept my interest better than a few of Cornwell’s previous. However, let’s be done with her nemesis Carrie. We have had enough of her.
  • Same story; same villain

Boring with a dash of ridiculous. Scarpetta doesn’t solve mysteries as much as she just sort of stumbles into things. As always, the book belabors her importance to U.S. security and perhaps that of the world at large… maybe even the universe. Scarpetta always gets drenched in a rainstorm; dives to pull up a body; cranks out a meal or two and flies around in Lucy’s helicopter. Benton looks good in jeans and a t-shirt and is still a genius with family wealth. Marino is still hopelessly in love with Scarpetta even though he will never, ever have her. Yawn. Go back to the medicine and the actual following of clues, like the early books. These are all just tedious.

Same boring stuff; get back to you when you started writing! Her books used to be so interesting. Now it just more of the same repetitive stuff. Not with the money !
