Description

With the walls closing in, Navy SEAL sniper James Reece is on a race to dismantle a conspiracy that has forced America to her knees in the latest high-octane page-turner that seems ripped from the headlines from the “hottest author on the thriller scene today” (The Real Book Spy), #1 New York Times bestseller Jack Carr.

You think you know James Reece. Think again.

A storm is on the horizon. America’s days are numbered. A Chinese submarine has gone rogue and is navigating towards the continental United States, putting its nuclear missiles within striking distance of the West Coast.

A rising Silicon Valley tech mogul with unknown allegiances is at the forefront of a revolution in quantum computing and Artificial Intelligence.

A politician controlled by a foreign power is a breath away from the Oval Office.

Three seemingly disconnected events are on a collision course to ignite a power grab unlike anything the world has ever seen.

The country’s only hope is a quantum computer that has gone dark, retreating to the deepest levels of the internet, learning at a rate inconceivable at her inception. But during her time in hiding, she has done more than learn. She has become a weapon. She is now positioned to act as either the country’s greatest savior or its worst enemy. She is known as “Alice” and her only connection to the outside world is to a former Navy SEAL sniper named James Reece who has left the violence of his past life behind.

Will there be blood?

Count on it!

Will the forces that threaten to destroy the United States be enough to light the fuse of Reece’s resurrection? From “master novelist” (Ballistic magazine) Jack Carr comes his most intense thriller to date, pressing “emotional buttons that other writers wouldn’t dare explore” (The Real Book Spy).

I love all jack’s books. Exciting, real, loyal and so much more. Thought was one of the best. I hope the ending out on an island does not mean no more Jack Reece Books. He us irreplaceable. I love Alice
  • Hope this is the last in the series…perfect

To varying degrees, I’ve enjoyed the simple action packed escapism this series has provided. Some books are better than others, but I believe all have been worthwhile diversions. This one is by far my personal favorite. Although a part of me doesn’t want Reece’s story to end, this probably should be the last of them. Great read, and perfect ending.
  • Another masterpiece from Mr. Carr

If you found yourself hooked on the terminal list you will love this one. I am amazed from the amount of details that Jack puts in every scene. It’s like watching a movie in your head. Thoughtfully written, Exciting and I found it hard to put it down and go to sleep. Obviously, the subject of the book is so relevant to our current global situation and I hope it will remain as a very thoughtful thriller rather than a soon to be experienced reality. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Loved reading another James Reece story. Keep them coming. 👍🏻
  • Excellent analysis of current events woven into the “fictional” character Reece

Many of the topics touched upon in the book should be required reading for all public servants, regardless of party. If we put country first as our forefathers, perhaps our country would not be in decline as so carefully explained in this brilliant read.

Another book that I couldn’t put down until finished and then I was bummed that I had finished it…leaving me with an intense feeling of despair for Jack’s next thriller. I only wish that he could write and release books as fast as I read them. Now THAT would be heaven 😉
  • Mr. Carr, thank you. Hoo-yeah!

Second thriller I’ve read this year where it appears the author is auditioning for the plot of the next 007 film. Evil billionaire out to change the world, tuxedoed hero and mayhem follows. Shades of Gray Man. Hopefully Carr's Reece series has ended and now he’ll either move on to a heroic female fantasy thriller or stick with non-fiction. The man knows how to tell a story, but is more into the Tom Clancy cataloguing motherload and less the Quinell no-nonsense veining thrillers. Shame.

The first book got me hooked and after each book in the series, my interest has digressed. The amount of detail for what clothing he is wearing, every brand of attachment on a gun and the stupid vehicles he is driving gets overly repetitive and tiring. It’s just fillers and if you removed all those details, the book would be 75% of the size. I put forth the effort and made it to this newest book of the series. I stopped reading and decided to leave this review after 50 pages.
