Description

In the land of Britain, Princess Alette Auvray finds herself facing a momentous decision. In a selfless act, she accepts a betrothal to a powerful foreign king, knowing it will separate her from her beloved family and thwart her dreams of adventure and worldly exploration.

Meanwhile, an unforeseen storm brews on the horizon - Torben of Clan Hakon, a formidable Viking general, has been commanded to invade and plunder Alette's homeland. Bound by duty and honor, Torben grapples with the dilemma of obeying the power-hungry Jarl Magnus, even though he doesn't wish to endanger his fellow countrymen in a reckless campaign.

Fate, however, has other plans in store. As Torben discovers Alette's hidden talents as a healer and seer, he learns of an ancient prophecy that links their destinies together in marriage. Now, his mission takes an unexpected turn as he must protect the English princess at all costs, for she is prophesied to be the savior of his clan.

In a collision of two worlds, their undeniable chemistry ignites against all odds. This sweeping historical fiction weaves a captivating tale of action, romance, and humor. Brace yourself for a heart-stirring journey that will leave you breathless.

Author created a nice mix of historical fiction and magical events. Many well written characters that will show up in future books, I’m sure. But I am unhappy that this book doesn’t stand alone. I will purchase the next book in this series but if it is also a continuation, I will not read further.

The Viking’s Chosen is book 1 in the Clan Hakon series. The book pulls you in and you get to know Torben and his clan. You will feel like you’re on an adventure with him to meet Allete and see if a prophecy will come true. Great story that kept my attention and left me wanting more.

Interesting story, but so poorly written. The author uses colloquial terms, language these people would never would've used in that time. And the way the classes speak to one another is completely unrealistic. This would be a good book to read at the beach, or someplace where you don't care about a flimsy story and the fact that the author seems to forget what time the book is set in. I'm not interested in the rest of the series based on this.

The viciousness of the times with the understanding of the ppl I love the book and so wish the author would write a few more books to this series; so HAPPY I at least have two more to go. Talk about twists and always wondering if your rooting for the right side!

The good: much of this book is well written with interesting characters and story arc. The not-as-good: first, there is not a happily ever after and I do not like being obligated to purchase additional books to get to the ending. It also takes place many centuries ago, but the characters also use many common phrases and mannerisms of this current time in history. That was disconcerting.
  • Chosen to drag it out

I was disappointed. The story line is good, but it dragged. And then ended in a cliff hanger. I really wish the reader would be warned up front that the entire story won’t be told until you invest in multiple books.

The storyline flowed and wasn’t rushed. Great details to get a visual of where you wanted us to go on this journey with you. Well done . Just bought the follow up.
