Description

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

"A steamy game of cat and mouse between witch and witch-hunter, played out against a backdrop of opulence, secrets, and bloody history. I couldn't look away." - Kendare Blake, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Champion of Fate

Enemies-to-lovers doesn't get more high stakes than a witch and a witch hunter falling in love in bestselling author Kristen Ciccarelli's latest romantic fantasy.

On the night Rune’s life changed forever, blood ran in the streets. Now, in the aftermath of a devastating revolution, witches have been diminished from powerful rulers to outcasts ruthlessly hunted due to their waning magic, and Rune must hide what she is.

Spending her days pretending to be nothing more than a vapid young socialite, Rune spends her nights as the Crimson Moth, a witch vigilante who rescues her kind from being purged. When a rescue goes wrong, she decides to throw the witch hunters off her scent and gain the intel she desperately needs by courting the handsome Gideon Sharpe - a notorious and unforgiving witch hunter loyal to the revolution - who she can't help but find herself falling for.

Gideon loathes the decadence and superficiality Rune represents, but when he learns the Crimson Moth has been using Rune’s merchant ships to smuggle renegade witches out of the republic, he inserts himself into her social circles by pretending to court her right back. He soon realizes that beneath her beauty and shallow façade, is someone fiercely intelligent and tender who feels like his perfect match. Except, what if she’s the very villain he’s been hunting?

Kristen Ciccarelli’s Heartless Hunter is the thrilling start to The Crimson Moth duology, a romantic fantasy series where the only thing more treacherous than being a witch...is falling in love.

“Enchanting and deeply romantic, Heartless Hunter drew me in with the first sentence and left me breathless by the last. A story that unfolds like a spell, and one that is destined to capture your heart.” - Rebecca Ross, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Divine Rivals

Very well done. Complex characters with grey morality. Kept you questioning who was in the right? Both? Loved itttt.

Fantastic. First book I’ve read since acotar that makes you care for the characters, enjoy the adventure and plot — finished in a weekend because I couldn’t put the book down! Rare to find these days.

It was good and had such potential but I feel like the ending kinda ruined it for me. Personally I don’t like who she was set up to end up with compared to another but it wasn’t that bad. I did not like the ending when she killed off one of the main characters and who I wanted her to end up with. It also was kinda weird with the whole “I’m your best friend oh wait no I am not, gotcha! I am actually an evil queen who you should help.”

I was looking for something to read and went down the fantasy genre rabbit hole. I came across this book and the blurb has my attention immediately. I loved the story, pace and the characters. Rune is motivated and has a mission. She knows the stakes are high and she’s willing to do anything to get the job done. Gideon was her perfect match. I loved how their relationship developed. I immediately pre-ordered the next book as soon as I finished Heartless Hunter.

Wow. Just wow. I will say when I first heard about this book and was about to buy it I hesitated. A few month later after reading serpent and dove I remembered about this book and decided to give it a try. Although I forgot the name and had to do a frantic search to uncover what it was called.. I was not disappointed.. I read it in less than 2 days. I could not put it down and even got the audiobook so I could listen to it on the way to work. I’m only disappointed I’m going to have to wait for the second… worth the read! Although if I was in your shoes I’d wait a little closer to the release date of the second… just to spare yourself the heartache… 😅

This was a TikTok recommendation and I’m so glad I read it! The only downside is I have to wait until February of 2025 for the next one! Amazing read though!

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO UNTIL THE SEQUEL COMES OUT? But in all seriousness, this book was amazing. Absolutely couldn’t put it down. May reread immediately. The cat and mouse game was delectable, the romance so believably heartbreaking. I just can’t handle the ending. I am literally going to die waiting for next year.
