Description

A grump who lost his family...

After a devastating loss, Malcolm Niall has spent the past twenty years hiding from the world. As manager of a Highland estate, he's built a life of purpose, caring for the land and animals. And for the past six months, his peace has been utterly destroyed by a sexy Southern whirlwind who's never met a stranger. Worse, they have to work together daily.

His sunshiny nemesis who's starting a new life

Nothing about Charlotte Vasquez's life has been traditional. She never married, abandoned her corporate job to raise the son of her late best friend, and now she's followed that grown-up son to Scotland for a chance at something new. While she's enjoying the challenge, she could do without the attitude from the broody Scot next door.

Join forces to protect a runaway

Malcolm and Charlotte clash over absolutely everything on the renovation project they're tasked to lead. If there's a healthy amount of heat beneath the frustration, neither is willing to admit it. But when they discover a runaway hiding in one of the cottages, they find common purpose at last. Risks are taken and hearts expand as Malcolm and Charlotte pull out all the stops to protect Gavin from the abusive father who'd tear their unconventional family apart.

I’ve been a Kait Nolan fan for a number of years now, and don’t know how but she just gets better and better. This story links two people who have lived life but have experienced some of the worst of bad times. Opposites generate sparks which turn to heat, then their feelings simmer slowly, but there is definitely steamy sexiness. Add in the rescue of a boy in a bad situation…. Just another un-put-downable read! Be sure to clear your schedule!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Malcolm and Charlotte make the most unlikely couple, but their situation as neighbors leads them down the perfect path to their ‘unlikely’ family. This book is so heart-warming and realistic with no pretentiousness. The characters are well developed and could be from the manor down the street (well if you lived in Scotland). Love this series and can’t wait to see where it goes next… so many more characters to match up! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

First off, can we talk about this cover?! This is definitely one I want to add to my paperback library. Being a mostly e-book reader, I’m fussy about what physical books I buy. The cover needs to speak to me. And this one said, this is exactly how I pictured Malcolm. He’s got a bit of gray, the big, burly build and that resting grump face. He’s getting a place of honor, that’s for sure! A sexy, grumpy, older hero is something I adore. Pair him with a feisty, funny woman who’s close to his age, and I’m even more excited. Because while I read all sorts of books while a wide variety of characters of assorted ages, there’s nothing like a couple close to my own. One with a history and experiences…both good and bad…to shape their personalities. Kait Nolan gives us both the richness of characters and an engaging and heartbreaking/warming storyline. Charlotte may be small in statue but she’s overflowing with strength, understanding and love. And she’s exactly what Malcolm, as well as their new young friend, needs in their lives. We should all strive to be like her. This is why Ms. Nolan is consistently a one-click auto buy for me. She weaves this tapestry of words with generous sprinkles of emotions that hit me every single time. The people in her stories jump right off the page and straight into my heart. That, to me, is what makes a book shine. As long as she keeps writing, I’ll keep reading.

love this Scottish series! Kait Nolan writes beautifully with a story with depth The characters are unique, emotional and with a lot of heart. Malcolm keeps to himself and is gruff and Charlotte is feisty, warm and a second mother to Raleigh. There is great chemistry and commitment between Charlotte and Malcolm but Malcolm believes his past will ruin their relationship and their promise to Gavin, the child they are protecting. I really enjoyed how everyone on the estate and how they go all out to support Charlotte and Malcolm relationship and their responsibility to Gavin. Totally loved this book it is romantic, entertaining and romantic. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was such a heartwarming read! I enjoyed watching Malcolm, the grump, melt into a big teddy bear by Charlotte’s stubborn charm. Together they make such a great team. I didn’t anticipate the way this book unfolded; not to suggest it’s a suspense, thriller or even twisty, it’s not. It’s fresh! I highly recommend the Kilted Hearts series; Grump in a kilt is my favorite so far. I can’t wait to see what comes next!. • What a story!

Each of Kait’s books tell a heartfelt story. Always told in a way that pulls one in with such strong feelings. The core story always paints a different societal issue with a loving brush. With most authors I have, their books follow a similar pattern. And they become boring. Not Kait! Each new book is a delightful experience encompassing all emotions with an HEA. I loved the Grump story!

“Tall, with broad shoulders, Malcolm was a mountain of a man. . , . He was exactly what she pictured for the brawny Scottish warrior heroes in the historical romances she enjoyed.” “Grump-In-A-Kilt” doesn’t do the man justice. Luckily, we don’t have to venture far into this beautifully woven tale to learn still waters run deep with Malcolm, and Charlotte is the woman he needs to rediscover his lost soul and passionate nature. One of the best parts of reading a Kait Nolan book is her effortless character development. As the story unfolds, you become intimately familiar with them, even if you haven’t read the previous books in the series. But do yourself a favor and read them all for an even richer experience! Even if you’ve already read them, you’ll get fresh insights by reading them again, and you won’t have to say goodbye to these endearing characters. I’m looking forward to meeting more of the townspeople in future Kilt books as well. Wishful and Eden’s Ridge are places that feel like the hometowns dreams are made of. And I want to meet the Scottish versions of a Mama Pearl and the Casserole Patrol. Bring it on Kait! This is truly a delicious series!!. I am really enjoying this new series set in Scotland. I read this in a day. I like that it was a “midlife” couple. Kait always throws one or two into here series. Malcolm has a lot of baggage and Charlotte has a huge heart and looking for her next chapter. Throughout cowboy in a kilt these two were always sparring over things. Everyone including themselves thought that they disliked each other. Forced to work together on the rehab cottages plus the runaway situation they come to a new perspective of each other. Love blooms and self doubt threatens their happy ever after. You don’t want to miss this turbulent love story. Can’t wait for the next one. This book!! I really enjoyed reading about Malcolm’s past and seeing his care and concern for loved ones. Malcolm and Charlotte are two very different people and yet they organically come together to help this child. The twists and turns, kept me glued. The real lage turner were all the world related to grumpy! That was hilarious and kept me going for more! This book has it all, Scottish highlands, ranch, grumpy lead and bubbly female lead, opposites attract, drama, love, family, kindness, loyalty, and heat! Oh my goodness the heat! Get this one! You will love it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
