Description

No one can play the game like her…

Though her title is lady now, Mirabelle Smith wasn't always. Bastard daughter to the Earl of Easton, she grew up without any of her father's wealth or power to protect her. Which is why when she determines to be the belle of next London's season, she knows that playing fair won't get her what she most desires. The only way to win is to use every trick she's carefully stashed up her lace cuff. Because if growing up on the wrong side of London has taught her anything, it's that cheaters often win, and gambling only works if you know how to play…

The problem? She needs the help of a certain baron. Partial owner of a new gaming hell, Hell's Corner, Baron Boxby's part of her dark world and the glittering ton that's just past her reach… But how to convince a man who doesn't want any entanglements to aid her quest?

A bet ought to do nicely…

Mirabelle Smith is half-sister to the Earl of Easton. Her eldest brother Ace, also a half sibling to the earl, has inherited a marquessate. The current earl, East, their half sibling has supported the move. Ace has married her best friend, and Mirabelle has a plan to get Emily’s brother Ken, Baron Boxby, to help her conquer society. She knows that even though she is now a lady, she is not accepted and is whispered about. She plans to make a wager with Ken and win it. The wager is amusing, and a sure thing on her part. The lessons begin, and the wagers continue. Ken had hoped, or he thought he did, that once Emily was married, he could live the bachelor life he had missed taking care of her. That was until Mirabelle. This story is a lot of fun. Mirabelle and Ken are a wonderful couple. They learn a lot about themselves from each other. The Smith brothers are amusing and entertaining. They are also wild not at all ton. I enjoyed this first book in the Lords of Temptation series. An amusing family finding its way in society, a lovely romance, and a fantastic hint at what comes next. I am looking forward to it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
