The ER department is chaotic and intimidating to most. But for me, it's one of the few places where I don't feel like a disappointment.

Heading up the team of a busy Philadelphia hospital isn't exactly a picnic, but I'm confident here. Untouchable.

That is, until Carter Grange walks through the door.

He might be a little banged up, but that doesn't stop his muscular frame rippling with power — or his deep blue eyes from piercing my soul. Carter is definitely not the sort of man I need right now, but when we find ourselves thrust together again by pure chance...well, the chemical pull is irresistible.

Problem is, I have a messy past snapping at my heels, and a young daughter to protect from its clutches. This tattooed mobster isn't the kind of man I should be playing house with.
