Edward McKendree Bounds (1835-1913), a native of Missouri, was a clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
Bounds worked in the South all his life and was a very popular minister. He was a chaplain in the Confederate armies during the Civil War as well. Many of his eleven books focused on prayer, including The Necessity of Prayer.
