The shocking end is only the beginning . . .

#1 bestselling author Jeffery Deaver has created the most riveting and original novel of the year-a race-against-the-clock mystery, told in reverse.

The October List

Gabriela waits desperately for news of her abducted daughter.
At last, the door opens.
But it's not the negotiators. It's not the FBI.
It's the kidnapper.
And he has a gun.

How did it come to this?

Two days ago, Gabriela's life was normal. Then, out of the blue, she gets word that her six-year-old daughter has been taken. She's given an ultimatum: pay half a million dollars and find a mysterious document known as the "October List" within 30 hours, or she'll never see her child again.

A mind-bending novel with twists and turns that unfold from its dramatic climax back to its surprising beginning, The October List is Jeffery Deaver at his masterful, inventive best.

Outstanding!! So many twist and turns. Stretches the mind keeping it all together in reverse. Love the concept.

Probably the dullest book I’ve ever read.

I was shocked a couple of times. Interesting approach, going backward in time, but Deaver pulls it all together. Great read. Didn't expect the ending, or was it really the beginning?

I've read a lot of novels in my life, but this is the first one that was written backwards. Lol. Honestly, I wasn't sure I liked it until the final couple of chapters (2 and 1) made everything clear. For those readers who like to flip to the end and read it first, DON'T!!!!! Deaver does a wonderful job of weaving everything together in this unusual mystery. Because of the way The October List is written, I don't think readers will bond with any of the characters. But it is definitely worthwhile reading!

I delayed reading this because it was written in reverse chronically. I've read all of Deaver's other novels and am waiting for the next Lincoln Rhyme. So I decided to read October List. This book has one of the most clever plots I've ever read. Read it and you'll find so many surprising twists that I think you might agree with me.

As a fan of Mr. Deaver's books this was a big disappointment. Hard to follow, all over the place. Waste of money. Don't buy.

Too bad such a great author would feel he has to resort to gimmicks to sell books. His attempt at a reverse novel is abysmal. His worst book ever. Save your money. This one is totally not understandable.

Not so good. I normally like Deaver's books. This one is an experiment gone wrong. Trying to make the reader think too much so they don't realize that it's not a very good read at all. Better luck next time, Mr Deaver. And don't charge so much for so little.

I always finish a book that I begin reading - until October List. I made it through almost half way before giving up. Each chapter moves you in a reverse time line, making it impossible to follow the thread of the story. I was hoping that things would become clear, and that each chapter would provide more context, but was dissapointed as it felt like reading a book backwards. Not an enjoyable experience at all!
