Catholic Prayers of Thanks

Prayer is thinking about God and speaking with Him. The four main types of prayer are: adoration (to praise and acknowledge God), petition (to ask God for something), contrition (to tell God we are sorry for something we did), and thanksgiving (to thank God for something.) 

While we ask God directly to grant us our prayers, we also may ask for others—such as the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels, and the saints—to intercede on our behalf to ask Him to grant our requests.

This collection represents a year’s worth of research, dating mostly from the late 1700s through the 1800s, into the rich Catholic history. It was surprisingly difficult to find prayers of thanks—the least represented of any type of prayer. 

The primary purpose of this work was twofold: to discover other kinds of Catholic prayers rather than the typical ones found in many of today’s prayer books; and to make prayers available on the iPad for more convenient mobility and access.
