Description

Created by a 2-time Emmy nominee and 20-year classroom veteran, “Editing for Film and Television” explains the core principles of editing in a way anyone can understand. The book makes maximum use of the iPad’s capabilities—with dozens of clips from films and TV shows that precisely illustrate each concept.

The text covers all the key basics: building scenes and sequences, matched editing, parallel cutting, screen direction, time compression and expansion, dialogue editing, L-Cuts and J-Cuts, and much more. These are concepts that no paper textbook can adequately demonstrate, but the rich media capabilities of the iPad make everything clear.

Best of all, the textbook includes access to downloadable footage that can be used for hands-on practice. These professionally-shot scenes can be imported into nearly any editing program—allowing users to try out various editing techniques. It’s the ideal learning-by-doing environment.

The textbook’s author, Prof. Michael Trinklein, has produced some of PBS’s highest-rated series and won numerous awards. A tenured university professor, he spent years working out the best way to teach film and television production. This iPad text brings together the best teaching concepts honed from decades of classroom experience. More than 500 schools worldwide already use his teaching materials, now anyone can learn the inside secrets of the production industry.

I really like this book….I went to Michael's website at first and I thought the structure of the site and the language used made this really easy to understand and extremely informative. So I purchased the iPad version and I can honestly stay that anyone wanting to learn the history and techniques on editing you cannot go wrong for $2.99……it really is well done and you could of asked for more money in my opinion. Anyone wanting to learn the craft of editing and how to apply these techniques to make better videos or movies should get this. This is my first purchase of an iBook version of any book and I must say I love it. The videos showing your explanations is outstanding….great job Michael.
