Description

The New York Times bestselling author of the Goosebumps and Fear Street series delivers a terrifying horror novel for adults centered on a town in the grip of a sinister revolt.

After travel writer Lea Sutter barely survives a merciless hurricane on a tiny island off the South Carolina coast, she impulsively brings two orphaned twin boys home with her to Long Island. Samuel and Daniel seem amiable and intensely grateful at first, but no one in Lea’s family anticipates the twins’ true evil nature—or predicts that within a few weeks’ time her husband, a controversial child psychologist, will be implicated in two brutal murders.

“The horror is grisly” (Associated Press) in legendary author R.L. Stine’s “creepy, fun read” (Library Journal)—an homage to the millions of adult fans who grew up reading his classic series and a must-read for every fan of deviously inventive chillers.

Reviews

  • Pretty good, too much "trying to be adult "

Plot was pretty good and got shock at ending. Too many f words and trying to prove he's an adult writer.

It definitely put me under the must-turn-one-more-page spell, and honestly brought me back to reading. I can't wait for his next book; hopefully, it's another adult one. I remembered why I loved him and Goosebumps as I read this.

There's a typo near the end of the book description. Great start. Book was ok. The only reason I bought it is because I loved R.L. Stein from the time I started reading what we called "chapter books" in elementary school. The writing itself is similar to other (sorry for the truth) only passably written quickie reads on the iBookstore. Except those usually go for a buck. Overall good waiting room material.
  • You've done it again Mr.Stine

Read in3days pretty good. Although considering it was a adult novel I expected more horror. Some of his fear street books are more scary then red rain. So it was good, but when I got done I was disappointed.

I thought it might be fun to read R.L. Stein's foray into adult fiction. Not so. Language simplistic, plot so easily discernible .... over all so poorly written. Ugh.

Fast reading. Written in short burst-type sentences making it seem almost for a younger reader. I still enjoyed the story and recommend it for a good Halloween read.
