Description

When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more…

But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them…

I loved this series in the beginning. Sadly it has turned into repeat after repeat of the same thing. I am taking a break from Anita and I am not sure I will be coming back.

In the beginning of the book Hamilton thanks her new editor but the book doesn't even seem to be edited. It was obviously proofread for major errors and punctuation but if the editor actually did her job she would have caught all the “ly” words, the over use of the word “that,” and the information which is not needed and drags the story down. Hamilton used to be such an amazing author, with unique story lines, but now it seems like she is copy and pasting sentences from her old books into the new ones then throwing in a bunch of added description around those sentences which is irrelevant to the flow of the story. Fire your new editor Hamilton and get one who isn’t afraid to tell you what NEEDS to be changed, then LISTEN to that editor. Filling your books full of whatever comes out of your head does NOT make for a good read. Think of your fans, because if they are like me they will get tired of reading the same stuff over and again fluffed up with useless info and will no longer be fans. I’m just happy this book was loaned to me and I didn’t have to purchase it.

It just goes on and on and on and on... It's so boring and hard to follow.
  • Worse book I've read in a very long time

Save your money, don't buy. I absolutely LOVED all her books but this one was a huge disappointment. There is no story, just description of the same characters we all know from previous books, she even describes the same characters twice in the book. It should be in the romance section, tons of sex descriptions but no story line at all.

This book has a great story. The thing I found odd about it is that things are said multiple times in different chapters of the book. Anita will describe the look of desire on the men's faces and comment that she doesn't know if women have the same look in one chapter then about 2-4 chapters later she says the exact same thing.

Started off good but took a huge plunge to nowhere. Really a three chapter sex scene? How about getting character names wrong from one book to the next. Last I knew Stephen's girlfriend was not Vanessa. Way too much background story on old time characters which is actually hashed out several times. If I can't remember from chapter 1 to chapter 30 that my problem. I don't even think anyone actually proof reads these books.
  • Story or Summary?

I love this series, but I can’t decide if this book is an advertisement for law enforcement or a complete summation of previous books. If I’m being honest, it’s both. If you just must read all of the books in the series, proceed. If you’re looking for a new and exciting installment in the series, I recommend skipping this book—considering the cost.
