Description

When fire meets ice
Handsome ladies’ man Lucas Beckford has agreed to help his friend, an impoverished baron, win the affections of an icy heiress. It should be a simple task, especially for a seducer of his reputation. However when Luke catches sight of the enchanting lady, he is captivated with her pretty brown eyes, quick wit, and sharp tongue; and his desire to see his friend marry the girl quickly evaporates. Now he just has to find a way to convince the penniless lord to turn his attentions elsewhere—leaving the Ice Princess to him.
Lady Juliet St. Claire has always believed that her fortune would protect her from ever having to relinquish her freedom in marriage. Though fortune hunters endlessly hound her, Juliet’s outwardly cold demeanor keeps most of them at bay, licking their wounds or patching up their pride. However when Luke charms his way into her life, he easily melts more than just her heart. Unfortunately, the rogue is of the love ‘em and leave ‘em variety, and leaves Juliet’s tender heart in pieces. But when her fortune lands her in danger from an unscrupulous foe, Luke returns to her side, offering his help and protection. Now Juliet has to decide if her heart is strong enough to trust the rogue a second time.

I’m a sucker for a good rake as the leading man. Typos/poor editing that e-books often suffer from. Not so heinous as to make one too upset. Unless, you’re an English Major, or Reading as an Editor, or studying Creative Writing.

This was actually a really good read. Of course it's a romance novel, so it has the sappy parts and the expected ending. But it has an interesting plot twist, and the author did a great job tying this to the main story. She also introduced a lot of characters in the beginning but they all played a part in the story. Overall, this is a great story.

A little Put off usually about romance novels but this book was well done. Writing style was refreshing----------a lot of good dialog and lots of good wit. Like other readers I found the book hard to put down. I will read others by Ava Stone. Cwrj

This has been a thoroughly enjoyable book to the point I had to force myself to turn off my iPad. I am blurry-eyed and sleepy and it is all Ava Stone's fault. She is a very gifted writer and my next stop is the iBook Store to buy the other books in this series. I can't wait to dig in - sleep is so overrated any way.

A rather great read! I found myself wanting to read the book all the time and couldn't go a day without reading at least part of a chapter. Made me laugh out loud in parts. There were a few typos but easy to over read. Loved the story!

I was put off by the cover of this book, but after reading the reviews (and it was free), I decided to give this book a chance. I'm so glad I did because this book was amazing!
