Description

As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace.

Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery.

For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

Cec Murphy and Don Piper masterfully executed the recounting of the miraculous events Don experienced. This story was a true encouragement to me, and I am grateful that God blessed Don to be able to tell his story enabling him to become such an encouragement.

Thirty minutes into the book and you’ve read all the author has to say about heaven. But you have anout 600 pages to plow through of complaints about the painful treatments he endured. Read Heaven is for Real!

  • Not what I expected.

Although some might argue that all near death experiences are also religious experiences, I was expecting a book that was perhaps less religious.
  • Too much filler material... zzz

The book starts off with a bang... in the first 30 pages a trip to heaven is detailed. Those pages are free of charge to read online. Then after you get excited and purchase the rest of the book, you quickly realize it was a waste of money. Basically, after the Heaven experience is revealed, the book turns into 170 pages of poorly written self-centered boredom. I ended up skimming most of the book because it was so relentlessly uninteresting and dull. I would recommend reading the free 30-page teaser, then be done. Very disappointing book. If I could get a refund, I would.

As a former medic, I feel for Don and his horrible experience; I've seen too many of those who've had similar experiences with much poorer results. God gave you a mission and you've proven yourself worthy! You're description of Heaven gives me so much encouragement and inspired me greatly! God bless you!

I found this book as a decent read because I have always found interest in others' life experiences. This book is a great testimony of faith. It leaves me with as many answers as I have questions. I found it repetitive at times, but finished the book to the end - which is a great feat for me because I often start books and never finish them. I give this book a 3/5. Recommended, but not a page-flipping, stay-up-all-night-reading kind of book.

Really enjoyed this book. I know that there is a Heaven. God's word says so and I do believe it. I enjoyed reading the accounting by Rev. Piper. It just confirms my belief. The important thing I learned while reading this book was to learn to accept the graciousness of others because God sends people into your life for a reason. God bless you

This book has confirms my belief that there is a heavenly place where all who believes in God shall have eternal life. At one time I was afraid of death but no more. I am so happy I will be and see others again that have gone before me. It delights me to no end to know that I will once again be with my beloved parents. I look forward to that day. I love you, God and I thank you for loving me. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life ... John 3:16
