This is much better than some of Laurel's recent books. For a while there it seemed that she was running out of steam, plus some were almost as violent as her fairy series (sorry, can't remember anything other than Merry, as the main character's name). This one held my attention, moved nicely, had a lot of the favorite characters we've been intro'd to over the years and had some good action. It is time for Otto/Olaf to die tho. Not quickly, maybe over the course of two books? And include a fight between him and Richard! That would be good!

The fact that this was an out of state "Edward" book didn't bother me in the least. It reminded me of the early books, where it was about stopping the monsters. Those books were great, and I've read them several times. I'm hopeful that now that Anita's learned some control, the story to sex ratio will even out or maybe even pull ahead a little. If you enjoyed the books before Anita hooked up with Jean Claude and everything went horizontal, you should like this one. It was a nice change of pace.

I love the Anita Blake series but the end of this book left something missing. I liked it but was disappointed by the end.
  • Interesting but slow

I thought this was a great book. Laurel k. Hamilton brought a different side to Anita Blake out, the side we don't get to see much in the other books. We got to see her working and without all of her other lovers and that she can still go on in life without all her boyfriends around her 24/7.

I guess maybe im over the Anita Blake thing, don't know. I did not enjoy this book, or the last couple of books like I did the others. I normally can't put a book Down till I have finished it and it took me three days to finish this one. Think I will skip any new ones. Blahhhh
  • Not bad
