Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The seventh book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series.

“All you’ve come to expect from Gabaldon . . . adventure, history, romance, fantasy.”—The Arizona Republic

Jamie Fraser, former Jacobite and reluctant rebel, is already certain of three things about the American rebellion: The Americans will win, fighting on the side of victory is no guarantee of survival, and he’d rather die than have to face his illegitimate son—a young lieutenant in the British army—across the barrel of a gun.

Claire Randall knows that the Americans will win, too, but not what the ultimate price may be. That price won’t include Jamie’s life or his happiness, though—not if she has anything to say about it.

Meanwhile, in the relative safety of the twentieth century, Jamie and Claire’s daughter, Brianna, and her husband, Roger MacKenzie, have resettled in a historic Scottish home where, across a chasm of two centuries, the unfolding drama of Brianna’s parents’ story comes to life through Claire’s letters. The fragile pages reveal Claire’s love for battle-scarred Jamie Fraser and their flight from North Carolina to the high seas, where they encounter privateers and ocean battles—as Brianna and Roger search for clues not only to Claire’s fate but to their own. Because the future of the MacKenzie family in the Highlands is mysteriously, irrevocably, and intimately entwined with life and death in war-torn colonial America.

Ms. Gabaldon's gift of creating riveting story lines set in the past is keeping me up nights. I cannot stop reading until the end of each book. And then I cannot wait until I read the next book of the series.

I read these books over fifteen years and have been a fan since day one. I cannot wait for the next one! Will all of the hanging issues be resolved? Will the war ever end? I have read and reread this series so many times that I feel I know the characters. I will have to reread Echo to remember all of the issues right before the new on comes out!

I wasn't sure I would be interested in a novel which included time travel, but it came recommended, and I do like thick novels , so I began with Outlander, the first of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and all the rest of the series. Great character development, a riveting story line, historical relevance and two-continents of action made the series a wonderful time-consuming read. Diana Gabaldon is first on my list when e-shopping or store-shopping for books to read at home or while traveling.
  • She does not end the story,

I am not a fan of authors who do not end a work but, essentially end with, to be continued. So Ms. Gabbaldon leaves one character traveling through time, one child character locked into a tunnel and there is no end. I don't intend to purchase any others of her books. END the story. Don't waste your time unless you want to continue to purchase additional titles by the author. Shame on her and the publisher, what a cheap trick!
