Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The fourth book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series.

“Unforgettable characters . . . richly embroidered with historical detail.”—The Cincinnati Post

What if you knew someone you loved was going to die? What if you thought you could save them? How much would you risk to try?

Claire Randall has gone to find Jamie Fraser, the man she loved more than life, and has left half her heart behind with their daughter, Brianna. Claire gave up Jamie to save Brianna, and now Bree has sent her mother back to the mysterious Scottish warrior who was willing to give his life to save them both. But a chilling discovery in the pages of history suggests that Jamie and Claire’s story doesn’t have a happy ending.

Brianna dares a terrifying leap into the unknown in search of her mother and the father she has never met, risking her own future to try to change history . . . and to save their lives. But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past . . . or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong.

First, it's largely boring. Though Gabaldon has seemed to remember how to write a steamy scene or two, thanks be. Second, the main characters from the first three books are now so old as to strain credulity in their wanderings. So, now we get Roger & Bree. Clearly this is setting up....oh so languidly ...the NEW adventures for the NEW generation. Too bad it barely goes anywhere and takes so long to do it.

Reading this series is more like a gift to have had hold of Claire's shoulder as she tumbled through time, strife, love, longing, hope, and blood. A magical experience that at once makes you crave to know as Paul Harvey used to say "...the rest of the story". Glorious writing and I was happily indoctrinated to this writer by a beautifully rendered STARZ series that I adore in its own right. Come join the adventures of life, 'tis braw.

Again Diana brings you along with this fabulous story of the lives of Claire and Jamie and all that is wonderful and beautiful of their adventures with danger and the telling of history as well. She tells it so well that you imagine you are there and experience their story thru their eyes. I'm so glad to be reading this series. I look forward to the next book with excitement. These books are so hard to put down that you can't wait to read the next one. You become so involved. BRAVO DIANA!
