An Instant Classic and One of the Great Love Stories of Our Time

Andre Aciman's Call Me by Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents’ cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. Each is unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, when, during the restless summer weeks, unrelenting currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion and test the charged ground between them. Recklessly, the two verge toward the one thing both fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. It is an instant classic and one of the great love stories of our time.

I read this book a few years back and have just went back to re-reading it. I’m still loving it as much as I did the first time around. It can get a little wordy for me sometimes, that or my history is poor, but I keep on reading it. I just loaned my physical copy to someone as a recommendation. Hope they like it as much as I do.

This book literally changed me, this book was so good and really showed how sometimes things aren’t meant to be. The ending literally had me sobbing and made me want to cry all night. 10/10 recommend this book to anyone who’s seen the movie because it’s even better then the movie because of all the details like Elio showing how he loved Oliver from the start, and if you haven’t seen the movie please read this book it’s amazing and honestly life changing.

This was the most surprising book I have ever read! I finished it two days ago and it is still in my mind. What a truly inspiring story of love, self discovery and insight. The story, verse and cadence of the narrative was enchanting. This was my first “romance” novel and I almost passed on it, usually not what I’m interested in. But, I have never been emotionally moved by a novel as much as this one. To love, forever and ever!

  • Beautifully written, but boring.

This book has some incredibly beautiful lines in it (I have so many highlighted). The only downfall is that it is very boring. The book relies on the tension between the two main characters but once that has dissipated, there’s not much substance.

This book is amazing, beautiful and powerful and makes the movie 100000x more understandable and enjoyable. (coming from someone who never reads) If you haven’t bought the book now what are you doing…
