Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs presents the first Alpha and Omega novel—the start of an extraordinary series set in Mercy Thompson’s world, but with rules of its own...

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country is about to recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Bewitching tale of honor through darkness and redemption after trauma, with some sexy passion thrown in too. Can’t wait to read more!

It’s a great book and at least there is more description and creativity in the book than the last couple of shifter books I’ve read. However the other review here is correct. Read the first part of “On The Prowl” and this story will make sense as it starts in the middle of nowhere. This should not be book one if the reader’s understanding of the story depends on the other book. Yes it can be a standalone but I would highly recommend following this up with the other book. Perhaps this is book 1 and “On The Prowl” is 0.5.

This novel deals indirectly with the results of emotional physical and mental abuse. Although here it’s easily over come, you could say supernaturally, with the power of lycanthropy and a mystical bond here, love is still the true answer to cure the broken hearts minds and trust of the abused. Compressed for entertainment value it detracts nothing from the richness of the characters the depth of the story and the entertainment value you get. Well done.

A companion to the Mercy Thompson series, the Anna Cornick series further explores themes introduced there. Briggs is clearly an ‘A-list’ author of paranormal literature. Any books of hers will provide hours of reading pleasure. Don’t deny yourself. This is an excellent book to start with.

Even though it’s marked as the first book of the season, “On the Prowl” has the first part to Anna and Charles’ story. So if you feel lost at the beginning go back and read the first part of “On the Prowl”, the rest of that book are short stories to start other series. Even if you’ve already read Cry Wolf it isn’t confusing to go back and read the real first book. It’s a really good series and definitely will keep you turning pages :)

This book immediately begins in the middle of a story that has already started which is weird since it is book one. I was lost at who, what, when, or why since the author started the story as if we knew everything and everyone already. For this being the first book in the series it had a horrible start. I was not intrigued enough or interested enough to push myself past chapter 3. I gave it a shot but I hate when writers leave the readers confused and with more questions then answers.
