Description

He can’t control his desire.

Luc Traverson’s entire future is planned out—but there is one very sexy obstacle in his path: Alyssa Devereaux. She’s a former exotic dancer turned strip club owner and restaurateur. Recently, Alyssa and Luc shared one night of wild abandon that left Luc terrified by his loss of self-control—and Alyssa desperate for more.

And that’s just the way she wants it.

Fulfilling a promise, Luc is the guest chef for Alyssa’s restaurant debut. The sight of her makes Luc wild, so how can he survive a week without letting loose and ravaging her—especially when she’s begging for it? Luc’s desire for her explodes when he realizes he isn’t the only man desperate to have her. But one of the others is deadly. And that’s not the end of Alyssa’s secrets…which are as dark and mysterious and enticing as her fantasies.

I didn't like Alyssa using Tyler. Knowing Tyler was in love with her, Alyssa used that to hurt Luc. Ugh

Night Owl Reviews Website Luc and Alyssa had an interlude months earlier that scared Luc away. He has his life planned out down to the type of woman he wants to marry, and Alyssa doesn’t fit the plan. Tell that to his libido. He lights up every time she is near. Alyssa used the one asset she had to get where she is today. Her body. With it she put herself through college by dancing, and now holds several degrees. She’s opening her own restaurant and makes it her personal mission to help other women who are in the position she was in. She’s proud of her accomplishments, and doesn’t hide how she achieved them. But her life and how she chooses to live it is rubbing some people the wrong way. Alyssa can’t forget the night she and Luc spent together, and isn’t above blackmailing him to fulfill the promise he made to her to cook at her restaurant opening. Afraid of his reaction to Alyssa, Luc tries to back out but honor demands he fulfill his promise to her. And so the sparks begin. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was a wonderful read, but had some issues that can be considered good or bad, depending on your point of view. I took exception to Luc’s holier than though attitude and his poor treatment of Alyssa. It’s like he had a personality transplant from when we met him in Decadent. I almost didn’t recognize him. He was very judgmental and almost seemed to punish Alyssa because he wanted her. That I didn’t like. The character of Alyssa was of a strong woman who wasn’t afraid to work for what she wanted. That didn’t mesh with her inability to kick Luc to the curb when he treated her poorly. How many times did the poor woman have to justify herself and clarify her relationship with Tyler before Luc believed her? In addition, the author’s interjection of drama in the form of not one stalker, but many, was a little over the top. Even with those distractions, the author captured and kept my attention with her trademark sultry writing until the very end. While not my favorite in this series, it is still a keeper and I anticipate another story, hopefully Tyler’s.
