Description

Mercenary Kate Daniels tries to save her city from divine intervention in this novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

As a mercenary who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels has seen her share of occupational hazards. Normally, waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow across Atlanta like a tide. But once every seven years, a flare comes, a time when magic runs rampant. Now Kate’s going to have to deal with problems on a much bigger scale: a divine one.

When Kate sets out to retrieve a set of stolen maps for the Pack—Atlanta’s paramilitary clan of shape shifters—she quickly realizes much more is at stake. During a flare, gods and goddesses can manifest and battle for power. The stolen maps are only the opening gambit in an epic tug of war between two gods hoping for rebirth, and if Kate can’t stop the cataclysmic showdown, Atlanta may not survive...

Really pulled me in the last third. Struggled a little with the beginning and remembering all the characters as well as meeting knew. But I Really enjoying the series. Already bought the next.

A great book. Awesome actions, good stakes, a bit of melodrama, and a loud mouth almost teen sorta sidekick.

Love this series . Great world building. Funny, well written and doesn’t spend eternity catching the reader up on previous books. I laughed out loud several times. Very happy to have found this series.

Such an excellent interesting story! Kate and Curran are still trading words but Curran is doing more. He has started courting/staking a claim but Kate hasn’t discovered it yet. In this book you will meet Julie, Bran and a few more. The story has plenty of action and there is plot twists but the humor really does a lot to making the story enjoyable. Romance of a different caliber but interesting. I love this series and look forward to the next book!

We're starting to see these characters open up the arsenal a bit more to see what they can really do. I'd like to see the same thing happen with the People that has happened with the Pack but I don't think that will come in just yet. It's very clear the author has a plan and wants to lead us down the rabbit hole leaving just enough to make it interesting, but not to give it away.
  • Great sequel to a great series opener

This is an action packed urban fantasy with superb writing, great character development in a fantastically gritty, wonderfully detailed post-apocalyptic urban setting. In this sequel to Magic Slays, the characters continue to develop and change, as do their relationships with one another. Mysteries about Kate are revealed bit by bit, and the romance with Curran picks up steam. We also get great new characters and new glimpses into existing favorites. The writing, if anything, improved from great to greater.
