I started reading this series years ago and I loved it then. When I came across it again there were so many more books in the series, so I decided to read them all again. This will always be my favorite book series

Laurell K. Hamilton is one of the premier authors to mix vamps, shifters, zombies, ghouls, werewolves ...... in the genre of mystery, science fiction, horror and fantasy. This is usually not my thing, I preferre only Vamps! but I wanted to try Laurell's first book just to get a taste, and I liked the book. Anita Blake the tough protagonist is not my ideal, but she grows on you as an animator, raises the dead and Vampire killer - that's her legit job. She's out to solve a series of crimes involving Vamps and gets mixed-up with some good and bad ones. There's Zombies and all matter of supses and if this interests you, the book is great. At times I couldn't stop reading the action was so good. I LOVE the Vampire Jean-Claude so much that I will read the next book in this series and it seems Anita has this strange attraction to Jean-Claude too, but she's supposed to kill Vampires....... 3 Stars, It's no 'Interview with a Vampire' 4 or 'Dracula' 5

I love Anita, not all women cry in a corner waiting for some muscle bond hunk to save them. Men are great and strong providers but we women are awesome too go Anita.
