Description

A quest for a title. An encounter with a stranger. Will she choose love?

Miss Miranda de Courtenay has only one goal in life: to find a rich husband who can change her status from Missto My Lady. But when a handsome stranger crosses her path at a Valentine's Day ball, her obsession with titles dims. Might love be enough?

Captain Jasper Rousseau has no plans to become infatuated during a chance encounter at a ball. He has a new ship to run, passengers to book, and cargo to deliver. But one look into a young lady's beautiful hazel eyes, and he becomes lost. Does love at first sight really exist?

Their paths continue to cross until they are both stranded in Fenwick on Sea. Their growing connection is hard to dismiss, despite Miranda's childish quest for a title at all cost. But what if the cost includes love?

Before I Found You first appeared in the Bluestocking Belles' 2021 box set Storm & Shelter. It is now available for individual sale.

Very enjoyable read! It's a great short romance story. Miranda and Jasper both imagined that their lives would take different paths. Miranda wished to marry a man with a title, while Jasper wasn't looking for love. Fate brings them together. Read this story to see how their story turns out! Miss Miranda de Courtenay has decided that to please her family, she needs to find a rich husband who can provide her a title. Yet at the Valentine’s Day ball she attended, she saw a handsome man, Captain Jasper Rousseau, she almost had second thoughts about relaxing her requirements. They dance together and seem to both be attracted. But she remembers her plans and pushes him away, only to have Fate put them back with each other again. Jasper is trying to get his shipping business firmly established. Yet someone seems determined to sabotage him. Will he find out who is doing this? Will he also get a chance to convince Miranda that perhaps love is more important than a title? I enjoyed this story very much. In addition to the romance, we have a mystery going on, so the reader was definitely being intrigued by the story line and the actions occurring. Grab your copy and see if love will “turn the tide” of their romance and give them a HEA at last.

This is a book I have read before when it was in the Storm & Shelter: A Bluestocking Belles Collection. It is now an individual book in the De Courtenay Novella Series. This is a short sweet complete story. I really enjoyed reading it again. Miranda de Courtenay has watched her brother Adrian and her sister Grace get married into families where they received titles. Her desire is to do the same and marry a titled gentleman. She may begin to have second thoughts when she meets Captain Jasper Rousseau at a ball and dances with him without having a prior introduction. Miranda seems to have a problem staying out of trouble with her brother and the Ton. The spark that was lit between them is quenched by Miranda when she reveals her desire to marry a titled gentleman. But when circumstances continue to draw the couple together and they both end up in the same area due to a severe storm, it may give them a chance for their love to flourish. Miranda may finally realize her dreams of having a title are not that important after all. This story involved some intrigue as an enemy keeps sabotaging Jasper's ship,The Legacy which may have caused his ship crashing during the storm. Delightful! This novella is packed full of juicy little tidbits. It has love at first sight; scandal and/or the ever present threat of scandal; sibling rivalry; sabotage; danger and a yummy ship’s captain for a hero. Sigh! They just don’t get better than this for a quick pick-me-up! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
