Description

"One of the year's most delightful rom-coms."—New York Times bestselling author Julia London on The Dachshund Wears Prada

The perfect romcom for dog lovers! Pets of Park Avenue is the story of a self-confessed hot mess who learns that life is more fun when things don't go according to plan.

What do you do when The One is also the one who broke your heart?

Self-proclaimed hot mess Scout Myers is determined to prove she’s finally got her act together. Raised by grandparents who saw her as her wayward mother’s wayward daughter, Scout’s used to being written off. So when the opportunity for a promotion arises at Paws in the City, the talent agency where she works, Scout is desperate to rise to the occasion. With shared custody of her little sister also on the line, Scout can’t afford a single mistake…like suddenly needing a canine stand-in for an important photoshoot. Luckily (or not) she knows the owner of the perfect pup replacement: the estranged husband she walked out on years ago.

On the surface, it appears Lane Halliday’s life has been blissfully drama free without Scout, but she suspects her handsome-as-ever not-quite-ex-husband doth protest too much. Working together even feels like old times—except for all that lingering, unresolved tension. But Scout’s not sure she’s ready to confront the reasons she left Lane, and when their plans to finalize the divorce become very real, Scout starts to wonder whether second chances might be worth a little hot mess.

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒ Pets of Park Avenue by Stefanie London is the second book in her Paws in the City series that features both pets, and New York City. This can be read as a stand-alone. Story Recap: Scout Myers is a self-proclaimed hot mess and works for her best friend at a pet-influencing company. When Scout messes up a photo shoot of a Bichon Frise, the only way to get out of the mess is to borrow her husband's dog, an exact doppelganger for the dog she accidentally dyed pink. The only problem? She hasn’t talked to her husband in over five years after she walked out on him. My Thoughts: I enjoyed this second-chance romance very much. The fact that Scout and her husband were still married, but hadn’t talked to each other in five years was a bit of a stretch for me, but I just went with it and I’m so glad I did! I found their emotional reunion very powerful and loved watching them fall in love again. Scout is a very relatable character, and I just wanted her to succeed so much. She claims she’s a hot mess, but she is very intuitive and great with people. She’s very conscientious and hardworking and I love that in a heroine. Lane, her husband, is adorable and I love the way he cares for his family, and still has strong feelings for Scout. Any man who loves an adorable Bichon Frise is a good man. I also enjoyed seeing the characters from the last book again. And I love the New York City setting. I loved the dog aptly named Twinkle Stardust, who had a big part in trying to get her “parents” back together. Recommendation: I highly recommend Pets of Park Avenue to anyone who enjoys romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this second installment in the “Paws in the City” series by Stefanie London. Scout made a few appearances in the first book and I was hoping she would get her own happy-ever-after. Scout has a history of being a bit of a mess and despite all the hard work she’s done she still see’s herself as a screwup. Meanwhile, there is Lane. Lane is a big success in the tech world, but his love life is a different matter. It seems Scout and Lane have a bit of history and when Scout calls on Lane to help her out of a jam they are forced back together. The two of them are different people now, but they both still feel the inexplicable draw they led them to a hasty marriage in Vegas years ago. I really enjoyed watching as Scout and Lane both opened up and got to know one another in a way they hadn’t the first time around. Both had issues to deal with and things they felt they had to prove. The first time they were together those issues tore them apart. But this time both are willing to be kinder to each other and to themselves. It was nice to see how both of them grew and allowed themselves to love again. And it wouldn’t be a “Paws in the City” book if there weren’t a bit of mischief and mayhem from an adorable dog, this time the hilariously named Twinkle Stardust. This was such a wonderful book, with lots of laughter and tears and sexy, swoony moments. I highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved everything about this book. Scout and Lane were so wonderful and I just wanted them to be happy together the whole time I was reading this book. I loved their story and how they were torn apart and then when Scout needed a favor for her job she was able to turn to Lane. Even after all the years apart these two were unable to move on from their relationship. Watching them figure out a divorce and if that was really what they wanted was wonderful, not the divorce but them figuring out that they never stopped loving each other. I started reading this book and figured I would read a few chapters and then set it down, yeah that didn’t happen. I seriously didn’t move and just read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. Ugh I love everything about Scout and Lane. And I am seriously hoping to see August get a story! I loved seeing Scout and Isla’s friendship and their working relationship. Isla really helped give Scout confidence in herself and without that I don’t think she would have fought for what she wanted with Lane.
  • Great second chance romance

I absolutely adored the first book in this series and this second book is just as enjoyable. Scout Myers works for her best friend Ilsa at a agency that manages animal social media influencers, Paws in the City. When an accident happens with one of their clients, Scout knows the perfect pet doppelgänger that can take their place. Problem is, the dog is owned by her husband, who she walked away from five years ago. Lane Halliday owns a successful tech company. While his work life if successful, he really hasn’t moved on with his personal life since Scout left. When she shows up at his door, they both have to confront their past and figure out how to move on. You might want to keep some tissues handy, as Scout’s story had me tearing up. This is a great second chance romance with really likable protagonists. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

Second in this sweet, fun series. This story has all the feels and laughs, I fell for Scout and Lane, who start out at a rocky disadvantage, then work their way to adulting and making the most of their past mistakes and misunderstandings. A well written book, consider grabbing the whole series, both are great enjoyable reads.
