Description

Unlikely friends. An undeniable attraction.
Telling everyone my best friend, Max, and I are dating was a panic move. But when my younger sister announced her engagement, I knew my parents were going to crank up the pressure cooker to see me settle down.
We were polar opposites. A tattooed bar owner and a strait-laced math teacher. Who’d actually believe it? I knew he’d play along, though.
The plan was simple. Fake date through all the wedding festivities, then stage a break-up. We were so close to pulling it off. That is, until the chemistry between us felt all too real.
To save our friendship, I tried to ignore the magnetic pull. Every thought betrayed me. He made me happier than I ever dreamed possible. If only I knew he felt the same way.

This is a wonderful friends to lovers romance I loved! The characters, Max and Zoe, were well-written, experiencing real life problems as they moved from best friends to their HEA! As a reader I was pulled into their world experiencing the joys and disappointments (grab your tissues) of their relationship. I loved this book so take a chance, jump in and hang on for the experience that is Max and Zoe’s story!

I just have to say I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Lea Coll and One More Chance was no exception. This is Max and Zoe’s story. They became best friends and bonded over playing cards, while Zoe’s sister, Aubree, and Max’s grandfather were in the hospital battling cancer. Now, Aubree is engaged to Troy. Zoe’s little sister is getting married before her. Zoe tells her family that Max and her are dating, although they’ve only been friends, except for that one kiss in high school. Will Max and Zoe be able to be convincing as a couple without catching feelings for each other? I won’t spoil it for anyone, but I will say if you enjoy reading a great romance book centered around family and friends, then you won’t be disappointed with this book. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This is the story about two best friends who grew up together, Max and Zoe who enter in a fake romance when Zoe's younger sister gets engaged. Both are really best friends, and have no romantic feelings for each other until Zoe gets desperate to avoid her moms fix ups that she confesses she is dating Max. At first glance this is a story about two best friends finding each other and discovering their true feelings for each other. They are also extreme opposites, yet they have been close friends since age 10. But this story has a lot more depth than that, its really a story about how Cancer affected them as kids and how its still impacting their futures 20 years later. Max's grandpa had Cancer and died from it. Zoe's younger sister had Cancer to and she beat it. But the toll Cancer took on both Zoe and Max is still impacting them even though neither had Cancer. It also gave them each other as they met at the hospital that their loved ones were getting treatment and a close relationship formed. For Max it created a workaholic who runs a bar and grill and tries to control everything. He works 18 hour days and 7 days a week. Its his #1 priority and he loves it but at the same time he is lonely. He also has no time for love, romance, or marriage and a family. He tries to control everything and thinks he is the only one who can do it, though he does trust Zoe to help out. In Zoe, it created a need to be #1. When her sister was sick everything was about her and while she loves her sister and was happy she recovered, she felt like she was an afterthought. She wants love, romance, marriage and babies and she wants to come first with her family and a romantic partner. So when Max and Zoe play pretend and it opens their eyes to how they feel about each other. They also have issues because of the personality issues that Cancer had on their lives. It was a fascinating story to read as they became so close to each other but also dealt with their lives in such different ways. I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
