Description

War is only the beginning…

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.

From the desperation of golden crowns…

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

And born of mortal flesh…

Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way—because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.

A great primal power rises…

Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear—to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be—what she fears the most.

As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

Stop trying to be fake “woke”. This series was really good. I see a lot of other people complaining about the amount of sex that’s in the book and how boring it was. I, on the other hand, enjoyed the book. I thought the story and world building was excellent. This story transports you. I’m old enough to be able to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not. I read stories like this because I want to escape reality. I want to fantasize and go somewhere other than here. I don’t want everything to be realistic—especially when it comes to romance. This book is one of the best romance books that I’ve read in a really long time. I don’t pick up a book to over analyze every single detail for correctness. Where’s the fun in that? I disagree with other comments. I don’t think it was too long. I love all of the vivid details that the author gives about the kingdom of Solis. It’s like a movie in my head. I love that I can picture what it looked like, what it smelled like, and what it sounded like. You can say what you want but Jennifer is a great storyteller.

Why oh why was this book so long?? I love sex scenes as much as the next girl, but whew, even I know when enough is enough. All these books could’ve been 300-400 pages and still been fulfilling. Also, why build up Cas’ and Poppy’s relationship for three books just to make it crash and burn with Kieran. I love him, but the strength of a platonic relationship is just as important. I almost DNFed at the joining because I did not see that coming and I think it just soured the devoted relationship between cas and poppy. All in all I went from being slightly in love with these books to wanting close up shop and forget I ever read them. 😢😩

This story was really three installments and the info in book three and four should have been combined. Not going further in series, disappointing.

Find and save casteel in chapter 30 when it actually gets good the first 29 chapters are just a lot of extra info and fluff

The first half of the book was a little slow, but we do see poppy come into her own! The second half of the book? Buckle up!

This book took me forever to finish cos it was just so bad. It went on and on and on about basically nothing. It kept inventing characters as they popped up. Casteel comes across as a weak lovesick teenager. I mean I know it’s fantasy but his obsession for poppy was just ridiculous. The dialogue was so cheesy it was cringe everytime. And they just kept having sex no matter where they were it was ridiculous. First time I actually had to skim the erotic parts of a book to get to the actual plot! Even the sex was boring! It made me impotent!!! Geez. Will never read this author again.

While it has some good points, I felt like this was too long and could have been shorter to keep the story going.

This one was hard to get through for me. It was way too raunchy and felt like they needed filler so just had them constantly having sex. It took away from the storyline for me and I kept having to skip through it. It took me months to finish this one because of that. Also I felt like Casteels character just goes down hill for me in this one. He just follows Poppy around like an annoying puppy constantly telling her how amazing she is and he just seems weak to me in this book. Lastly I’m not into the three way stuff at all so if you are, cool you’ll probably like this book but for me it’s a big nope.

I struggled with the first book, loved the 2nd and 3rd book…but I HATE this (4th) book. Go read a summary of this one and skip to the next book. I think the author knew it was horrible bc she started adding sex scenes in every other chapter. It’s boring, it’s drawn out, it’s disappointing. This book made me really dislike Poppy. Her character is whiny, clueless, immature, weak and frustrating. And who did the editing bc omg it’s terrible

The story is still good, and I will continue reading the series, but this book was hard to get through. There were SO MANY names, places, and terms- and they kept changing. It was hard to keep track of everything.
