This books was a collaboration between Fairfield Public School students and the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. In Term 3 2018, twelve students of refugee background in Stage 2 at Fairfield Public School were involved in creating this beautiful picture book with the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation. The character featured in this book is a teddy bear named Sydney Fairfield. Sydney Fairfield is the school mascot. Students may borrow Sydney when they are feeling sad or lonely. Sydney can accompany children on holidays or go home with students for the weekend. He even has his own passport. Students in the English language program for new arrivals were learning about local places and places across Australia. For this story, students thought that Sydney Fairfield could go missing from his cupboard outside the Principal’s office. The students wondered where he may be... could he be at school, a special place in Fairfield or somewhere else in Australia? We hope you enjoy this wonderful story.
