I read the audio book and I cried, because the ending is a twist. You HAVE to read it.

For starters, the book description said this was a story about the things people have to do in order to survive. Or something like that. But it really wasn’t about that at all. I’m still wondering what the purpose was for a lot of the things in it. I found myself bored a lot while reading, going to bed to it. It felt like it took me hours to read 2 pages. I just think I didn’t like the characters that much. There wasn’t really any characters in the book that I fell in love with. I especially didn’t care when Kate’s POV was being narrated. I also don’t know why Leo’s POV is as if he’s talking to the girl. The whole book was just all over the place and I think it only got somewhat interesting towards the end. It would’ve been way better as an actual story with one POV, maybe Leo’s, instead of all these POVs. The last thing there is to say is just how many cliches there were. Like staring up at the sky on your knees and screaming “why” like who actually does that? Kate investigating the doctor was cringy and bea with a grunge style didn’t seem like a 30 year old to me. I don’t know why the author felt the need to point out not once but twice the outfits bea would wear. I skimmed through some pages especially Kate’s so overall I wouldn’t recommend this book.

The story started off with some promise. But as they reach the penultimate act in the story, this readers imagination was pushed just a little too far. And then at the conclusion of the story, the final reveal is so outrageous and ridiculous, and unbelievable that it ruined the entire story.

The book is very slow is the beginning but about half way through it picks up, which helps. There are parts that feel a little unnecessary (IE: random missing girl that ends up having nothing to do with the main plot) but it was a good twist at the end. I wish it would have given more sneak peaks a little earlier on

I’m gonna be honest and say that I have only read two books completely through in my entire life. I picked this book one night when trying to read to fall asleep. Nope. I stayed up in 5am reading this book. I seriously could not put this book down and am obsessed. The way it’s written keeps you on your toes, trying to put together all the puzzle pieces. I’ve gasped out loud three times lol! THANK YOU MARY!!!!!!

There were a few chapters that held my interest as I liked some of the characters. I can’t believe I wasted my time to finish it.

This writer has a lot of talent but she needs an editor(s) to tell her she hasn’t finished her story yet. Ending was very contrived. And it just doesn’t work to have one of the main characters telling major portions of the story in first person singular, then describe her own murder! I tried that in 6th grade and my English teacher gave me a “C”.
