Description

“Carter’s writing is on target.” — Publisher’s Weekly

Former FBI agent Karen Pantelli lives by a simple philosophy: never, ever care. Three years after a tragic mistake ends her once-stellar career, she drifts from one dead-end job to another, quickly moving on when she finds herself getting too attached. A new city. A new life. A new way of forgetting and being forgotten.

Until one chilly night behind a seedy bar, when a frightened girl leaps out of the back of a speeding van.

As they end up on the run in a thrilling chase that spans half the country, Karen soon realizes it's much easier to say you don't care than to actually mean it. And that unlocking the secrets in this girl's extraordinary mind might not only save both of them, but bring down one of the most sinister organizations the world has ever known.

A very well written book that kept me turning pages well into the night. Impressive knowledge of many areas such as female emotions and actions, as well as critical Procedural aspects. Especially liked the action packed martial arts and self-defense descriptions.

The people in this book were introduced well and kept their depth throughout. Loved the constant action as well.

Very good read but way too many pages spent on unnecessary background description. The book did hold my interest start to finish.

Good story. Some over description made me skip a lot but it was a decent mystery

First off….. I don’t get to read a lot compared to some of the people I see on here. But out of the books I have read this year so many are so good and it befuddles my mind how few reviews there are compared to some as good as they are This author is one of them. I found this story suspenseful and engaging. Well developed characters that you can relate to and cheer on I am big fan of his Garrison Gage series so tried this one and it did not disappoint. Was also nice to see a cameo appearance of Garrison I highly recommend checking him out. This book is quite different from the Garrison Gage series being more of a hard boiled detective type story. So depending on preferences you may like one series over the other. Or like me, like both!
