Description

Ilona Andrews, #1 New York Times bestselling author, continues her spellbinding series set in the Hidden Legacy world where magic controls everything…except the hearts of those who wield it.

As Prime magic users, Catalina Baylor and her sisters have extraordinary powers—powers their ruthless grandmother would love to control. Catalina can earn her family some protection working as deputy to the Warden of Texas, overseeing breaches of magic law in the state, but that has risks as well. When House Baylor is under attack and monsters haunt her every step, Catalina is forced to rely on handsome, dangerous Alessandro Sagredo, the Prime who crushed her heart.

The nightmare that Alessandro has fought since childhood has come roaring back to life, but now Catalina is under threat. Not even his lifelong quest for revenge will stop him from keeping her safe, even if every battle could be his last. Because Catalina won't rest until she stops the use of the illicit, power-granting serum that's tearing their world apart.

I can’t even explain how amazing this book is!!! This is one of my very favorite series, by one helluva writing team. They pulled out all of the stops with this book. There was mystery, drama, and love. It was also like visiting with old friends, but with a savvy back-plot that was intricate and so well-thought out that it kept me on my toes. I care about every single character that this team has written into this world of magic. I enjoy the mental dueling these characters do with each other. I never know who’s going to be on top in the end, but finding someone to route for isn’t very hard. The complexity behind this series is stunning and seamless. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!!!

Magic, strategy and love all rolled into one dynamite package. Characters that sing to one’s soul lead the charge to defeat a creation of human hubris. Wonderful!

I have read all of Ilona Andrews books. Once again they have created a high paced, intelligent book. I reread her books at atleast once a year. This one will definitely be added to my list.

While it’s sometimes hard to connect when a series shifts the main characters, I’m even more intrigued at how the personalities and storylines are unfolding. I will be rereading this, as each time I do with these books I see something I missed that expands the story and gives me more insights into the characters, their lives and their world. What a world! Thank you, as you obviously know your craft, and we readers benefit from great storytelling.

This is book 5 of the Hidden Legacy series. I highly recommend rereading Sapphire Flames before heading into Emerald Blaze. The setup is so beautifully done, that when you it get revealed in Emerald Blaze, you head literally gets blown apart. It was a fantastic read, there is character development, and both the main characters have matured. As usual, the book is revolves about one main case, but the background story arc keeps moving. We get a lovely revisit with Nevada and Rogan, lots of other characters make a reprise without it feeling like a news report. But new characters get introduced and hopefully some will get to stay. I wouldn’t say no to more story on the ridiculously handsome aquakinetic prime. Hidden Legacy is one of my favorites of Ilona Andrews, yes, I love Kate Daniels, it’s what started everything, but IA has improved as an author, every page is pure magic. The scenes are gripping and the story moves along really well. Before you know it, this fantastic book is over. All you can do is go back and reread.
  • Can I give it 10 stars?

I’ve read this book twice today and still want to dive back in to find all the yummy tidbits I haven’t noticed yet. Bravo! I think it’s the best book yet!

The writing team of Ilona Andrews has delivered another compelling story, full of action, heart and new magics. My only regret is that I’m so greedy for any new work of theirs, that I consume it all in one sitting. Luckily, I know from experience that their books can stand up to multiple re-reads, where I will get just as drawn into the story and characters again. Thank you, Ilona Andrews, for sharing your talents and stories with us.
