Hurt

Callan and Emery Trigger warning is right. Some of these words were very difficult to read but so worth every gasp and tear that fell from my eyes. Emery is so wonderfully written as her strength bursts through the page. Callan has so much depth and layers, I didn't think I'd see them all. They support each other through some of the most difficult times they will ever have. They are truly two pieces of a puzzle that make they whole. Superb writing makes my emotions run away from me. I'm still trying to catch up to them.

Every single time I finish a Lydia Michaels book I think no way can she top this. And every single time I’m wrong! I thought Hurt was phenomenal! The writing was superb. Every word struck a chord. Every sentence was chilling. It left an impression even long after I finished the book. The storyline was haunting. It had my heart pounding and blood pumping with each turn of the page. I loved both Callan and Emery. What incredible people they are. Brave and loyal. Strong and vulnerable. With spirits that are unbreakable. When they love they love with their whole heart and being. Their journey and their stories are heartbreaking and gut wrenching. A love story wrought with pain,sadness and blood. But the author always leaves the door of hope open and a light at the end of the very dark tunnel. A must read for fans of dark gritty books.

It’s been a while since I’ve read such a masterfully written novel. This is a book that makes you think. Because of that, it was a breath of fresh air and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Hurt was a hauntingly beautiful read that will stay with me for a long time to come. Lydia Michaels has officially set a new standard for dark romance! The attention to detail was outstanding. The character development was spot on, twisting a dark tale full of pain and tragedy. Yet, there was also kindness and love underneath it all. Callen is damaged and broken, but not in a way we so often read in romance. His story was raw, gritty, and completely original. He’s a protector with a loyal soul. Add the Scottish accent to the mix, and he gives all the feels! Emery’s story ripped at my heart strings. I connected with her in ways I rarely do with a character because she is an example of the reality we live in. Together, Callan and Emery persevere with heart-wrenching resilience on their search for redemption. They are characters you won’t be able to let go of and I can’t wait to see what the next book brings!
