Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Get ready to be swept up in a whirlwind romance. It absolutely charmed me.”—Reese Witherspoon (A Reese’s Book Club Pick)

“The perfect book to get lost in . . . Josie Silver’s characters sneak their way into your heart and stay.”—Jill Santopolo, author of The Light We Lost

Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic . . . and then her bus drives away.

Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah, and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming, and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

At first it was kind of hard to keep on reading but as I gave it another try, I couldn’t put it down. It follows ten years but it doesn’t feel rushed and gives good plots ro each of the characters. I wish that Jack would’ve gotten more “screen time” but it was perfect just like the ending.

Love the establishment of relationships, that leads to really understanding each characters feelings. Loved that the narrative is from different perspectives. Wished there was more perspective of Sarah. But overall, super satisfied and a new Josie Silver fan.

A very sweet story of love and friendship. The only thing it took too long to get to the end and then that’s it… but a very refreshing, romantic story
  • Great cover to cover

I guess every time when I think of Edinburg the first thing that pops into my mind will be their kissing.

For me, it took a very long time to get to the part that gives you chills. Only happened in the last 40 pages or so for me. The rest of the story was just a bit dull and me hoping that any time they’d have some huge lovers quarrel or at least something.
