Which is harder than it sounds when she’s recuperating at his luxe penthouse…

Now sparks are flying. And despite her best efforts, Layla’s heart is definitely fluttering. But falling for each other might just cost more than they could ever imagine…

Fantastic story from Cathryn, I really loved this one. Parker Braxton, confirmed bachelor for life or pay each of his college buddies a cool mil each, some pact they made to keep them from getting screwed by women after their money. That made me laugh. Parker is Seattle's most eligible bachelor owner of a large software company and his employees have a long list of names for him. None of them kind or generous. His face stuck to his phone, he hits the same coffee shop everyday ordering his usual served up by the same girl, Layla. Layla works there and is in senior year of college and truly lives hand to mouth. Rent past due, no winter coat and worried about her final semesters tuition, she needs her job. Rushing out the door with his face in his phone Brax has been called once again to the local ER for his mother. When he gets a text while driving, that once again his mother has indigestion he feels his car hit something. Cursing he jumps out and it's our lovely Layla. That's how we meet this wonderful character. Layla is hurt, aside from the obvious slight externals, she may likely have a concussion and he insists on taking her to the hospital. She fights him tooth and nail. He finally picks her up and physically puts her in his car, carting her off to the hospital. When she leaves without a place to go and he catches her he takes her home with him, much to her dismay. They do stop at her place to get a few things and while she's gathering a few pieces of clothing, she can hear him rifling through her cupboards. Which are basically bare. Home they go to his oversized penthouse that is sterile and a real eye opener for her. He passes it off, saying he doesn't spend much time there. He tells her he's just keeping an eye on her overnight, which turns into a couple days, then a week and on we go. This book has the best delicious slow burn and I loved it. When the fire ignites, it's smoking hot. Loved the characters and really liked Layla and Parker as she called him. It's a fantastic read and go ahead because you'll miss out on a great story if you pass this by. **advanced reader copy from NetGalley and Entangled in exchanged for an honest review. Back in college, five jaded friends made a pact that if any of them ever got married they would have to pay each friend a million dollars. They agreed it would make any of them think twice about getting married only to get divorced later. The Penthouse Pact is Parker Braxton's story. The story starts out where he is rushing to the hospital because his mom has been admitted, when he literally hits Layla with his car. He knows Layla because she is the one that hands him his coffee every morning before work at Uncommon Ground coffee shop. Parker is so stressed about his mom, he forces Layla into his car and takes her to the hospital to check her over for a concussion against her wishes. Layla is barely scraping by. She's trying to get her degree and work full time. She can't afford the hospital visit or to miss any work and classes. Too bad Parker doesn't give her a choice. I loved this! It was a light, fun read and just what I needed! Parker pretty much kidnapped Layla and forced her to rest because he felt so guilty. While he was pretty forceful, I wouldn't say he was domineering. He just wanted to take care of her mostly because of the guilt he felt for hitting her with his car. I loved Layla's character. She was a bit too independent but her resistance with Parker wasn't over the top or annoying. Their chemistry was spot on and the banter just added to the fun of the story. This is the type of book I wish I can find more of. I highly recommend it. ARC provided by NetGalley.
