Description

My brother’s best friend is a rock god…

Austin James is a platinum-selling rock-star, my brother’s best friend… and my first love. At least, he was until he broke my heart in college, and made me vow never to fall for that panty-melting smile (and voice, and abs) again.

But now Austin’s back, and he’s offering exclusive tell-all profile that could make any journalist’s career. Like mine.

Two weeks to land the scoop of a lifetime? I’m not about to let a little unresolved sexual tension stand between me and my big break. OK, a *lot* of sexual tension. Austin knows just how to push my buttons, and despite everything, the chemistry is too hot to ignore. My reporter instincts tell me he’s hiding something… but when he puts that rockstar mouth to work, I forget everything. Except how to kiss him again.

Can I figure out Austin’s secrets - before they break my heart? And will this off-limits romance find a way to become something real?

Find out in another hot, off-limits romance from Katie McCoy!

I loved the sound of this book! The premise sounded perfect! Hot rock star that is also her brother’s best friend?? Yes please! Except I didn’t really like Austin. At least the persona he gave off. But I guess since he was a “rock star” he was just being exactly what one would expect. However, there was some really funny moments, Hot moments and Sweet moments that kept me going throughout this story. I kinda hope we get to find out Luke’s deal...
  • Satisfactory rock star romance

Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review Sex God is author Katie McCoy’s latest roma on the best friend’s-little sister-trope, it pairs aspiring journalist Mia Stevens and bad-boy rock star Austin James and is presented in alternating points of view. After a brief college encounter, Mia and Austin are reunited eight years later and their fledgling flame is reignited. Mia works for an entertainment news outlet, and is given an exclusive with Austin as he promotes his new solo venture and impending album release. As their professional entanglement throws them together into various situations, the feelings both characters previously buried start to re-emerge, but their romance is complicated by concerns of professionalism and Liam, Mia’s brother and Austin’s best friend. Austin struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Mia and how these feelings violate the “bro code,” especially given the close familial nature of his friendship with Liam. And Mia battles conflicting emotions from her past and present encounters with Austin and the ramifications that a relationship with the subject of her article would have on her career choice and future in the field of journalism. Of course, despite the many barriers and obstacles this couple faces, they do eventually make it to their happily ever after. I’m a fan of Katie McCoy’s previous works. She has such a genuine, grounded quality to her writing. McCoy is usually extremely adept at creating chemistry between her characters, but I found Mia and Austin to be lacking. Their romance and coupling seemed hasty, rushed, and underdeveloped. And, at least for me, Mia comes across as slightly unlikable; her character is really inconsistent and her emotions are erratic, which made her hard to connect with. And while Sex God is a pleasant, enjoyable romance, unfortunately, for me, it adds nothing new to the trope. I would recommend Sex God, but it’s not quite the must-read that McCoy’ other books are.
  • Forbidden, engaging, and refreshing!

You can never go wrong with reading a Katie McCoy book! Sweet, sassy, sexy, swoony….I may have fainted more than once while reading Sex God, because a lack of oxygen will do that to you when a book like this takes your breath away! So much deliciousness is packed into this hilarious and emotional love story. Austin and Mia are two characters that you just know are destined to be together. Their unique and complicated history only drives the story further, delivering a new layer of fascination to the already complex storyline. And their combustible chemistry burns you with its intensity and passion. But as much sensual excitement this story brings, the touching and delicate emotions flow from the pages with an abundance of warmth and heartbreak. Austin and Mia’s connection make them both realize what’s really important in life, and brings forth the stark reality of what their lives would be like without love. Well written with a forbidden, engaging, and refreshing take on a Hollywood romance, Sex God is the perfect book to make you fall head over heels for a broken and soulful rockstar. 5 Stars!
