Description

One of Cosmopolitan's Best Books of 2017!

Lord Alaric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow, is the most celebrated man in England, revered for his dangerous adventures and rakish good looks. Arriving home from years abroad, he has no idea of his own celebrity until his boat is met by mobs of screaming ladies. Alaric escapes to his father’s castle, but just as he grasps that he’s not only famous but notorious, he encounters the very private, very witty, Miss Willa Ffynche.

Willa presents the façade of a serene young lady to the world. Her love of books and bawdy jokes is purely for the delight of her intimate friends. She wants nothing to do with a man whose private life is splashed over every newspaper.

Alaric has never met a woman he wanted for his own . . . until he meets Willa. He’s never lost a battle.

But a spirited woman like Willa isn’t going to make it easy. . . .

The first book in Eloisa James’s dazzling new series set in the Georgian period glows with her trademark wit and sexy charm—and introduces a large, eccentric family. Readers will love the Wildes of Lindow Castle!

I absolutely loved the book. The only part is when 1/2 through it kinda dragged a little. I would of loved a little more about Alaric’s brother. I guess I have to read on.

Loved Wilde in Love as not only is it the first of the series, but also my introduction to Eloisa James! This book has something for everyone - humor, intrigue, drama and Romance! I loved Ms. James’ turn of a phrase, sheer perfection in setting a scene. This cast of characters is a pure delight, each their own person with idiosyncrasies that make the plot percolate. Their introduction here sets a wonderful banquet for the series. Willa and Lord Alaric are the focus in this book and they are divine! Theirs was a relationship sprouted from challenge and grew into understanding, then respect and bloomed into love. Looking forward to reading the next book, Too Wilde to Wed.....
  • I had to give up....

At about 1/3 into the book I just felt that I wasn't getting any enjoyment from it. The conversations were so filled with innuendos and talk that was just going in circles but never moving forward. I also know by that time i wasn't feeling any hopeful romantic connection between the two main characters and it felt like it was time for me to jump ship. A shame as I have always enjoyed her books before. 😔
  • Good story, but distracting sex

I really enjoyed the story, but cannot give it more than 3 stars because of the extensive sex scenes. The story is well thought out with appealing characters. It has some unusual twists that I enjoyed, but the extensive sex scenes were distracting. I feel they were filler for the story. Even after the characters become good friends, the emphasis on sex continue. To me this belittles the development of their relationship. Most frustratingly the story ends with them sharing a bed. I wish the focus was on the emerging relationship and less on carnal desires.
  • Entertaining and well written.

As usual, James’ writing is a fun romp with witty, engaging dialogue.
