Description

(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)

Meet cute...

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

…and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

Another page turner. I am not reading these in the order written but that is no problem. They are truly standalones and great books. Absolutely loved this story about Spencer and Colbie. Highly recommended.

Spencer is a workaholic. He knows he can either have love or work but not both. Relationships are not his thing. Colbie takes care of her mom and brothers almost to a fault. Her family cannot function without her. Burnt how Colbie walks out to find her muse. Ending up in San Francisco was just what she needed. After a wet meeting Spence and Colbie can't stay away from each other. With their time running short will these to figure out what they need is each other. Loving this series and can't wait for next book!!!

I love Spencer! He's always been a bit of a mystery, and in this book we finally get to know more of his history ... and enjoy watching him find his happily ever after! The standard group of friends are all aboard and making us laugh as usual. They have great chemistry together and truly are their own little family. Loved my return trip to Heartbreaker Bay! Author Colbie Albright is burned out! Between taking care of her family and cranking out book after book in her Young Adult fantasy series that became an overnight success, she's just done. And her next book is feeling the pain! She decides she's going to spontaneously run for the hills and have herself a vacation away from it all and leaves New York with sunshine in mind and winds up in gorgeous San Franscisco where she quickly stumbles into a sexy dreamboat! Spencer Baldwin doesn't mean to knock her into the famed fountain ... it somehow just happens! Her reaction intrigues him and he can't let her get away without enjoying more of her company. Spencer is having his own little burn out, and finds himself drawn to the idea of watching this beautiful woman's eyes light up with laughter to brighten his day. With only a couple of short weeks available, they set out to see the sights of the city around them and enjoy every moment they can get ... will they be able to walk away when the Christmas Eve deadline gets here?

I love this Heartbreaker Bay series and have been excited to read Spence’s story. He is the mysterious nerd, and reluctant matchmaker in previous books, so I knew his story would be delightful and seductive, and it definitely did not disappoint. Spence had a perfect meet cute with Colbie at the fountain. They not only had immediate sparks but Spence felt protective and responsible. Colbie was new in town and needed a place to stay so Spence rented her a room in his building. He acted so out of character that Elle's protective momma bear side came out. She did not want her good friend and boss to be hurt again. But both Spence and Colbie have secrets and are struggling with their current situations. They become the perfect distraction for each other, but is it enough? I have loved Spence from book 1 and Colbie is so perfect for him. They are both so much alike and have great chemistry while allowing each other to be themselves and have fun. There were so many laugh out loud moments, along with some very touching, heartwarming and passionate moments as well. I love how all the Pacific Heights friends impose themselves into each other's lives. They are funny, quirky and caring and add so much to this story. I can't wait to read more about this wonderful group of friends!

Chasing Christmas Eve is the perfect formula for a contemporary romance. Deep, engaging characters, just enough misunderstanding and disfunction, and the right amount of chemistry and romance. I immediately found myself sucked into the story and the various characters, even though this is the first book of the series I’ve read. So much so that I want to plan a trip to San Francisco and find this little enclave in Cows Hollow (it’s a real place – who knew?) – that’s how engrossed I became with this book. I will admit I had an eye roll moment toward the end. If insta-love isn’t your thing, you may find as much enjoyment in this book. I was willing to overlook it because the rest of the story was so well written.

Chasing Christmas Eve Chasing Christmas Eve is Jill Shalvis at her best. This fourth edition to the Heartbreaker Bay series is sensitive, insightful, and laugh-out-loud funny. The main characters Spence and Chole are adorable, interesting and loveable. Spence is a new favorite book boyfriend. Spence’s relationship with his grandpa is touching. Loved the recurring visits with other characters like Elle, Archer, Finn, Pru, and others from earlier books in the series. I totally enjoyed this novel from beginning to end.

I was so excited to return to Heartbreaker Bay and get Spence's story, and it didn't disappoint at all!! Spence and Colbie are perfect for each other. They both have secrets, but eventually grow close enough to open up about them. Colbie is sweet and fun, and has a vulnerable side that you can't help but feel for. Spence is sexy, nerdy, and the perfect hero. There's a few surprises in this book, a few things I never saw coming throughout the series. Add in the perfect group of interfering friends, and you've got an awesome read. I would definitely recommend this!!
