This is the complete collection of detective stories about the scientist known as "The Thinking Machine", Augustus S. F. X. Van Dusen. These stories by Jacques Futrelle were published between 1905-1912. For a time it seemed as Futrelle would gain as much fame as his contemporaneous colleague writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but Futrelle died in the Titanic disaster and is now largely forgotten.
