Description

Sailing Made Easy, which Sailing Magazine called "best in class" upon its release in 2010, is the most comprehensive education and boating safety learn-to-sail guide to date. It is also the official textbook for the ASA Basic Keelboat Standard (ASA 101). Incorporated in the textbook are useful illustrations and exceptional photographs of complex sailing concepts. The text’s most distinguishing feature is its user friendly "spreads" in which instructional topics are self-contained on opposing pages throughout the book. There are also chapter end quizzes and a glossary to help those new to sailing to navigate their way through the extensive nautical terminology.

Purchased this book but Apple Books thinking it was just like a hardcopy book, but now Apple Books requires that I repurchase from bookstore.

Not to much theory. Good illustrations. Inspiring.

You can't adjust the font size. You can't zoom in - not by pinching the screen, not by clicking zoom. It's nearly impossible to read in the microscopic font it's displayed in - and there is NO WAY to adjust it. Complete waste of money.

Annoying reminders to review. So here you have it, would put ZERO if that was available.
  • Good but outdated

A good introductory course to Sailing. Best for all seeking to get their ASA certifications. However, most of these lessons or topics should be updated to the modern sailor and their modern sailboats
  • Not a true e-book format

Disappointed in this book! Was excited to be able to read this on my iPad and highlight away with my Apple Pencil. No can do. Unable to change the font size, highlight or make notes. I feel it was a waste of money. I’ll end up having to read the hardcopy books. Most frustrating is that they don’t tell you that before you buy the book. Rather deceitful. I just assumed… and you know what they say about that.
  • Constant crash

Tough to read on a digital device, made it halfway through and now I can’t even open the book, it crashes the books app. Every other book on the app works fine.
  • Buy the Paper Version

There’s no way to highlight or mark any of the pages. Can’t fill the test/ review pages. This was a waste of money.
  • ASA Sailing Made Easy Formatting is Horrible

I reviewed the electronic sample copy and agree with another reviewer; the format in iBooks is terrible and is not adapted for single page reading. I was looking forward to purchasing both hard copy and electronic versions, but I will be holding off on my purchases for now.

This digital eddition contains all of the content as the physical eddition , but with one hudge issue! When you view it on an iPad or MBP you must view two pages at once. Viewing single pages isn’t supported and makes reading very difficult as you must zoom in to be able to read each paragraph. It’s too bad they did’t take the time to actually format this for the Apple ecosystem.
