Gabrielle has had enough of battles, of wars, of seeing the Carpathian warrior she loves nearly lose his life when it isn’t even his fight. All she wants is to be away from the Carpathian Mountains, far from vampires and the shadows cast by the crumbling monastery that hides so many terrible secrets. But she isn’t the only one in search of answers in the corners of the unknown...

Trixie Joanes has come to the Carpathian Mountains in search of her wayward granddaughter, fearing that she has been lured there by something unspeakable. Instead, Trixie has stumbled onto the path of a desperate man and woman on the run. And they’re all fated for the lair of a mysterious ancient with revenge in his soul and the undying power to make bad dreams come true.

The intertwining hunter/lifemate stories, along with the help given to the ancients made this a wonderful novel. Mrs Feehan and team should pat themselves on the back!!!

This book was amazing and had me in tears and laughter. I can’t wait for Gary to find what he needs it breaks my heart but I felt this went in the right direction! Yes there was a lot of steamy scenes but you had two carpathian stories in one so I was expecting it and didn’t mind. This is still my all time favorite series and favorite author! I don’t think I’ll ever be bored or think it’s overplayed, I hope one day the carpathians are fixed with woman and babies but then I’d be sad cause that would mean an end I’m sure. Just so happy to be along for this ride, this book was an amazing time jumping, holds your attention book!
  • Too much sex and too little story for my liking.

I didn’t enjoy this one at all. I agree with the other reviewers. Toooo much sex and not enough story lines and I disliked the male character in this book. Gabrielle was just not a normal female character that Christine writes either. I usually re read all my Dark series multiple times but not this one!

As a long time Feehan fan I am just devastated at how she handled this book, heartbroken. In a world of disappointment and pain why add more then try to disguise it as something else. I had tolerated the women getting dumber and dumber, and most of the males sound the same, so now she makes one of my favorites who was unique more like the rest and ruins a great love story for smut. Goodbye Feehan.

As with all her books the characters I well developed. This book seems to have several characters that are building within it, I love the way that all of the female characters are interacting in this particular novel. Another hit for Feehan

I really wanted to like this book. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but I will write what I personally got from it. I feel like I am at the point of getting the Dark series books more out of habit and the series is dying a slow and miserable death. This will be the last book I pre-order in the series. At this point I would rather not waste my money until the prices drop. My heart really broke for Gary. He has been really changed and I hope this will lead to his story. He deserves his own happily ever after. Gabrielle made me want to throw up - a lot. Her lifemate was horrible and he is one of my least favorite in the entire series. The only thing I can say is they deserve each other - not that their story is a great one. Trixie and Fane were great. I don't feel like this book did their story justice and it seems they were put in just to lighten things up. There were some heartwarming and light moments but they were few and far between. This book is also full of BSDM - if you enjoy this kind of thing, you may like this book better than I did.

Normally I love her books, but this one really disappointed me. Too much sex,and not enough fighting vampires. Well over 2/3 of this book was about sex. I hope the next one is better.

I usually can't wait for a new Carpathian novel to come out and anticipated this one to be just as good as others before it. I was so disappointed is Gabrielle's story. She came across as pathetic and incapable of making a decision without being told what to do and think by her man. It was a waste of money and I would highly recommend NOT purchasing this book if you appreciate a stronger female character.

Christine needs to take a long relaxing vacation. You need to put your thoughts together.l do not know what has happen to your writing ability, but you really need to relax, or get some (sex) therapy. You might want to find a new editor that might help. Your story line has one third story, two thirds sex. You fill the last part of your book with a 120 Pages of appendix. I just want the way you use to write. I just can't continue to purchase sexual trash. I read books for entertainment and fun. I don't need to know how to have sex, I can do that all by myself, thank you very much. Vacation Christine, Vacation.
